the one thing i genuinely did not anticipate from this administration was its vicious, know nothing hostility to any and everything that might even be adjacent to science and scientific research. they genuinely one to destroy the entirety of the nation’s research capacity. and for what, exactly?

This is twice as money much as the Department of Energy spends on solar power R&D. We could have more solar power but instead we’re paying to build detention camps.

We should be putting a gargantuan amount of money into solar and storage. War economy levels. It should be free to have a guy from the government solar your house up. Electricity should basically cost nothing.

If Russia India and the United States were building solar at the same rate as China the renewable energy transition would be over in no time. Unfortunately three of these countries are easily controlled by the interests of fossil fuel capitalists

Maybe this is just rage bait at this point, but I find it Interesting that heating uses 4x the energy globally as cooling does, but authors of AC-shaming articles like this never call for people to just “tough it out” through the winter without heating their homes 🤔

An example of why when ppl ask me how I feel about about our climate future I say that despite despair over the climate impacts we are already seeing I am more optimistic than I’ve ever been that we are making progress.
