Thanks! It was hard taking a bad photo given how beautiful the forest was. Definitely inspiring!

Just a little something about why shared universes are the best. Not biased at all on that front.

Here here! The crazy thing is, thereโs not even a supply issue when it comes to written works. Thereโs actually a demand issue (not enough readers). So why are these AI companies trying to push AI โwritingโ to market?

In related news, Nytho was pirated by Anthropic. The payout situation is uncertain for indie authors. What a time to get serious about my writing ๐ซ

Nothing beats holding the physical copy too. I read on my Kindle for a few years and got back into reading physical copies the past few years. Itโs so satisfying seeing the progress as you read! As for the snip-bit, I chose my example with care (aka tried to choose a neat part)!
04.09.2025 21:51 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Finally got the author proof of Blessed is the Rot from the printing company. Currently at page 95 out of 323. Iโm always glad to catch errors at this stage. Itโs crazy how much you miss reading on a screen!
04.09.2025 18:42 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0When your inner writer takes over in your day job. Doing peer reviews of scientific articles is so painful. Seriously, so many scientists cannot write and donโt even know basic grammar. Communication skills are not emphasized enough in STEMโฆ

02.09.2025 13:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Cover art by Ninja Jo features a robot with an inverted egg-shape head low to the chest against a dark reddish background with a bright yellow almost circular outline directly behind the robot. The title of the piece is "The Key" and there is a lighted keyhole pattern on the robot's chest. Bottom of image fades into darkness, so you can't see it's hands or lower body.
The September issue of Clarkesworld features fiction by Claire Jia-Wen, Sheri Singerling, Louis Inglis Hall, Alexander Jablokov, David McGillveray, Koji A. Dae, and Robert Falco.

Alta has a salve on offer. But every gift comes at a price. What is Calista willing to lose to be free of her pain?
01.09.2025 19:41 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Calista is stuck in a purgatory, enslaved by grief over her motherโs passing. No one understands her ache. Nothing seems to ease her suffering, until she meets Alta, an auta different than most of its mechanical brethren.

You know, why donโt I just make that future myself in one of my books? I already know the perfect one for blimps to be featured in ๐
31.08.2025 17:14 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Inspiration can come from the most random places, like when I was riding my bike to work and had this blimp pass overhead.
My thought process: I wish we had more blimps flying around. Theyโre so much cooler than planes. Like a future that never was.
The books fall into various sub genres (cyberpunk, genetic engineering, science fantasy, etc), but the thing linking them together is the presence of powerful sentient engineered intelligence a la cosmic horrorโs old ones.
30.08.2025 13:59 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Checking how a scene would play out in real lifeโspecifically, what does a sugar cube dissolving in coffee actually look like? I was way off. It sinks! Time for some slight edits.

I have a feeling, when itโs all said and done, completing this series will put all the work I did for my PhD to shame. Writing is tough but oh so satisfying!
