A great blue heron rests on a floating log in a large pond, at a distance. Foreground leaves and twigs, bright morning reflecting on water, hundreds of lilypads shining.

Morning walk. Overcast, humid, enough rain to wet the pavement and cars overnight. Heading up to 100f by Sunday. I'd rather have the overcast and humid! This lovely heron made up for everything. Full zoom on phone cam, no processing.

Hulhumalé, Maldives. Sunrise at the 2nd Phase sea wall. In the foreground is a parked scooter. Beyond that there are two people, one sitting on the sea wall boundary and another standing on the rocks and using a rod to fish in the lagoon. Everything is in silhouette. The lagoon is in gold. The reef is in low tide and the corals are showing above water and beyond that the waves crash. Both there too are in silhouette. The sea is simmering in gold and black. The clods in the sky are very faint and some nearly translucent. The sun is shining top center left of the frame. The color around the sun is gold and it darkens to tangerine as it goes further from the sun in a circular fashion. Light halos can be seen around the sun.
