I left Gmail for @proton.me almost four years ago. I did it slowly, first moving over essential services to my new email, telling friends/family the new address, and signing up for new services, etc., with the new address. I use Google much less now.

I figure slow disentanglement > doing nothing

It is well past time to get off Gmail for your email if you're able. I'm very excitedly watching the upcoming @thunderbird.net email service www.tb.pro/en-US/thunde... and I've been happily using @fastmail.com for years (an affiliate link if you want 10% off join.fastmail.com/85abc1db)

The Chicago Municipal Device is the city symbol few Chicagoans know about The backstory of Chicago’s century-old symbol — a “Y” inside a circle — that can be found dotted throughout the city.

Inspired by a delightful back-and-forth on here recently between @robertloerzel.bsky.social & @ladytophamcatt.bsky.social sharing photos of the Chicago Municipal Device, I thought it’d be fun to write about what the hell it even is and why you can spot it all over town once you look for it

@angryblacklady.blacksky.app Imani, can you message me your best email? I had it ages ago and have been looking for it, and figured I should just ask, as I doubt it's public for very obvious reasons

I wrote a vignette about celebrity, it's stand-in for community (it's a bad idea)

I talk about this briefly in this piece; our allegiance to celebrity is how and why we're here, b/c it functions as a substitute for action and community.

"The system sucks," or what a federal lawyer's comments really tell us about the Trump admin Julie Le's comments are shocking, but they are a problem of the Trump admin’s own making. And it goes way beyond one lawyer new to the Minnesota U.S. Attorney's Office.

The New York Times not linking to anyone who’s been reporting this — and then pushing it — is quite annoying!

Also, my story is much more detailed and actually explains things going on, in addition to linking to three other reports from other outlets. www.lawdork.com/p/the-system...

My favorite genre of Epstein emails are powerful people emailing WITH JEFFREY EPSTEIN about how MeToo has gone too far and the woke mob must be stopped.

The New York Times Does PR for Segregationists The paper of record casts a legal movement that is repealing Civil Rights era reforms as one committed to anti-discrimination.

I wrote about the New York Times refusing to call Neo-segregationists by their true names, the DARVO style of writing about race, and some great articles and books I read this week.

The public library is an essential component of a 21st-century left political project as an example of both what is already available to us and what can be improved upon in the future. The library is a public good, and it is free as a public service.

I want more people to make the connections.

Never mind the jobs you had, tell me five classes you took in college:

1. Venice: City of Stone, Water and Dreams
2. The History of Historiography
3. Military Strategy from the 1830s to present
4. Deciphering Mayan Hieroglyphics
5. Video Art

At some point, the fact that *over* 1/3 of gaming workers were laid off last year, and the fact that over half a million tech workers have been laid off over the last 3 years, will have to be reckoned with as a society, instead of being swept under the rug anildash.com/2026/01/06/5...

Sending so many survivors so much love today as the moments that destroyed so much for so many are picked over as salacious fodder. May we all find healing amidst the cruelties. May we stop exempting the rich from accountability.
