I love it how in โ€œArrivalโ€, the US army is all peaceful while China, Sudan and Russia decide to attack the aliens. Tell me again how propaganda is a communist tool.

On a separate note, it's telling how 5 years into COVID, there's nothing comparable to PlusLife that would be made in Europe. For all the billions that are pledged to tanks & bombs, and the aggressive posturing re: China, the EU medtech cannot match the Chinese tech that exists for years.

If you use #PlusLife, some illustrations โ€“ here's a sequence of COVID tests showing (1) start of symptoms (2) peak infectivity (3) "still positive" on the way out; a well as (4) malfunctioning test (bubbles?) that should be redone.

I like ZimiAir's approach to design, and passion for developing the product further. But, man, the delivery is the bottleneck. No responses, two weeks in transit without a delivery date still, this is not the NukeIt level of service. I need to adjust my expectations :-P.

I have little experience with the Soviet games industry, you will need someone from Mir Dialogue like Sergey Orlovskiy. I only released my first game in '96!

Steam Playtest is great for identifying which languages you want to support first, when you ship the demo/the product. IF your store page supports language N, BUT there are very few requests from that region... it's Okay to skip it at launch.

This sketchy setup certainly builds no trust. Navigation apps quick to sell data thatโ€™s unverified/misleading. Very much like the entshittified Waze that doesnโ€™t show *actual closest gas stations*, but tries to send you to a faraway sponsored spot.

The cliches about driving e-cars outside of your own village are still true: arriving to a German hotel, I ask where the nearest spot is. Itโ€™s 100 meters away. VW navigation shows it as well. I arrive: you need a residential card or you can โ€œpay direct with a QR codeโ€. But, there is no QR code.

It seems like the dots are not really getting connected yet. I hope the grid operators get sued into compliance. The layers of charges are incredible: station A, charged via program B, operated by app C. VW/Elli/WeCharge/Allego. And everyone wants a piece of cake.

Imagine driving up to a gas station that lists no prices, where each driver is charged differently, and needs to have multiple accounts. Thatโ€™s where we are today.

I watched a German gas station (โ‚ฌ1.73/gas) as I plugged my e-car without any idea what Iโ€™ll be charged by VW (result: โ‚ฌ.98/kWh).

The reality of e-charging in Europe:

* multiple apps required to use some stations (Orlen, GreenWay, etc.)

* pricing is non-transparent, not shown upfront, โ€œdynamicโ€ at best and โ€œhiddenโ€ at worst

* the price per 100km is ~ the price of gasoline, or up to 60% higher

Atm, consumers are abused.

According to our GP, 10% of all "flu" cases she sees are in fact COVID and yes, it's the worst flu season she's seen in her 30 years at the job: a mix of A and B, just keeps going since the autumn. The clinic even brought back the "please mask" sign on the door (but there's little compliance).

What puzzles me is when among the 2 channels for Flu B, one is not moving and the other scales up.

I think I got the hang of it, as these are identifiable as the line going up and then down? Iโ€™m after the overall dynamics: how early, and how consistent, is the increase. One test btw was completely chaotic, from the first minute, and I realized it was like a foam in all the capsules.

7 days after the onset of fever, one of my kids is finally negative for Flu B: daily testing with PlusLife showed steady progress, and today we finally have the confidence to ditch the masking around him. Without these tests, we'd be more or less flying blind.

Nationalists of any color canโ€™t digest the facts where someone simplified into โ€œthe good guyโ€ does horrible stuff, or when โ€œthe bad guyโ€ actually does the thing a reasonable person would support today. But itโ€™s such a mix. And most politicians prove to be reliably evil, no matter where from.

I havenโ€™t finished this book yet, but it proves to offer a ton of details Iโ€™ve missed in my education. Like the US and the USSR telling the UK to let India be independent during WW2, and the UK instead arresting ~100K activists there, with public flogging and whatnot.

Sounds great. I was there years ago, with a car, and I recall the parking charge at the hotel garage was โ‚ฌ42/day. We used the car once (to go to zoo). Still, couldnโ€™t have done without it as we arrived via ferry. And RailBaltic is still not there to replace such trips. Same re: Warsaw ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Iโ€™ve spent a few days in Berlin and the availability of public transport (subway first of all, and also trams), plus ease of cycling and walking, resulted in an absolute lack of use cases for a car. Slower, but the city is bound to follow Paris in replacing car trips with PT/bikes.

What I would have done differently:

* skip the prophylaxis dosage, rather start with the full dose for everyone once infection was confirmed in the family

* kids will vomit on the high fever days, more so after Tamiflu; take care to chew enough apples, etc. with the capsules, super important.

21.04.2025 16:43 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

With Tamiflu from the second day, expect 2 days of high fever, then one day 37-ish, and next day itโ€™s 36.6.

PlusLife still shows viral load though, so probably 2 more days to clear (overall: 6-8 days of being infectious).

Iโ€™m still -ve thanks to FarUV and HEPA, plus masking around the family.

My takeaway from the current experience, Flu B (everyoneโ€™s been vaccinated 10/2024):

* infection to symptoms: 2 days ~12 hours

* first symptoms: 37C, tiredness, scratchy throat

* second day: 38-39C (kids), 37.5-38C( adults)

* Tamiflu prophylaxis doesnโ€™t help

You donโ€™t even have to highlight COVID for such a campaign: weโ€™re still in the middle of a Flu wave, and some folks around me are RSV-positive. โ€œBring your sunglasses, not a virusโ€ would be an overall concept. But people are raw-dogging shared air like crazy at the moment.

3/3 This is how Flu is spread in the schools, I believe. A kid is sick for a week, then the fever is gone, and the parents think the kid is good to return.

In fact, the kid is still +++ infectious for a few days, and this is how at our school the whole school bus got infected (despite FFP2).

2/3 The Flu channels this time increase later than the control channel, but are significantly more pronounced (channel 7 exceeds 10K).

The kid's fever is down to 37C (no ibuprofen or anything else), yet, I believe, he's even more infections now?

1/3 Some PlusLife data, to share how things looks during active Flu B. Here's a 9 year old kid, the first day of fever (38-39C), channels 1 and 7 increase even ahead of the control channel 4.

We then follow with 45mg x 2 oseltamivir (tamiflu) daily, for 60 hours, and test again.

20.04.2025 13:46 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

...and we have the info: Flu B. Means I can immediately go to see the doctor, and to start the treatment. PlusLife: an absolute recommendation from me.

Yet another post recommending PlusLife. A kid got a fever this morning (38.5C). Within an hour, we were able to establish that it's -ve for COVID, -ve for Strep A. In a few minutes will know, whether it's Flu or RSV (I don't know what channels 1+7 are for). Saves a lot of time.

Best practices in ventilating public spaces: hereโ€™s a lounge at a Berlin hotel, with 445 ppm CO2 thanks to the excellent air exchange. This is doable. You just need to be aware, and to act on that awareness. This is how every public space should be, including offices and hotels.
