This weekend I implemented command passthrough to #PicoIDE over SMART Command Transport (which is done via creative use of the SMART log get/set commands). This way you can get status of the PicoIDE, load disc/disk images, etc., and being implemented with SMART means it works in user mode in Windows

Watching this being drawn when I was 3 was a pivotal moment in my childhood and it’s an absolute joy to have it in my possession especially now both my parents have gone. I recognise all the ornaments and fittings in the illustration and can see my mum dusting them in the morning before we opened.

My sister visited the pub this weekend and today she turned up with the framed drawing. The landlady said it was only on loan from the previous tenants (my folks!) and it was mine if I wanted it. All she asked for was a print of it in return. I haven’t seen this since I was 18 when we left the pub.

We lived in a pub when I was growing up and when I was 3 (50 years ago!) we had someone in to draw the pub for a business card. I sat next to him and watched him draw every line. I was transfixed and it was a huge inspiration for me. I’ve dreamt about owning that drawing for years…
