While I gave up a regular D&D campaign, while editing D&D magazines I found myself playing far more variety of RPGs for playtesting sessions and at conventions. Probably slightly less gaming on average, but certainly much more interesting gaming.

I liked the early episodes, but I like world cinema that often doesn’t move fast.

But Andor accelerates and blew me away. Such strong accumulation.

In my experience, that’s not unusual.

BTW, I thought of you a few months back while re-watching Capitaine Conan. I had forgotten virtually all of it.

Andor. Clearly.

If we see each other in Edmonton in 2030, we should schedule an extra day before or after WorldCon for a very-much-non-TotM game.

I’m astonished I never knew what a high-level D&D nerd you are!

Side note: did you know that the Mothra fairies were a popular singing duo in real life? You can hear some of their music on Youtube.

Kurosawa Kiyoshi’s Cloud begins as a slow crescendo of dread and then takes a sharp turn into cuckoo bananaland. Recommended.

Freewill Shakespeare Festival | Edmonton, Alberta | Plays for a Midsummer Night Alberta's largest outdoor theatre festival, the Freewill Shakespeare Festival presents professional Shakespearean productions featuring local artists in the beautiful Edmonton metropolis.

Despite the loss of their home amphitheater and the financial fallout from Covid, Freewill Shakespeare has mounted a cracking good production of As You Like It down by the river. Check it out, and, if you can, throw them a few bucks to help them survive until a return to Hawrelak.

Ah, the joy of discovering a brilliant performer on Youtube, searching for when she'll visit your town, and learning it was last month. Facepalm.

Several elf-cloaked attendees, but I favor the Rosie cosplayer.

They’re playing the soundtrack over the preview/advert slides, evoking fond memories of past Hobbit parties and my all-too-brief visit to Wellington and Weta Workshop.

Pretty good early turnout, especially for a long weekend Monday. They made the wise decision to sell coffee. Lots of young adults and kids.

Victoria Day means Middle-earth Monday movie marathon at Metro cinema for me, a nerd and alliteration addict.

The small but well-curated exhibit of Qing-dynasty rank badges at the U of A didn’t hurt either. Thanks to those nerds for bringing one of my favorite campy films to the Metro.
