youtu.be/UOFm4aJIHSw
Forget little green men โ the galaxyโs most likely aliens may be hives and swarms. From biology to starships, insectoid life could shape civilizations stranger than ours.
Since #NaNoWriMo is dead, what alternatives rose to take its ecological niche? I am not sure I'll have time to write a full novel this year, but I need to know.

The Fermi Paradox - Cosmic Forbidden Zones
youtu.be/h2teHmbvGR0
From supernova graveyards and magnetar death fields to alien quarantines and simulation boundaries, we map out the โhaunted housesโ of the Milky Way and ask: are we living in one?
It'll have to wait until December or January, but I'll definitely be submitting a story again.
Again.
For any fantasy worldbuilders out there: folding knives were in existence before Rome was, so you can have a dwarf mob boss pulling out a switchblade on a gnome in a port-town back alley and not feel any shame about it.
Maybe, after my hard-SF book, this'll be next.

Caretaker AI & Genus Loci
youtu.be/YUQdTdfFZT8
Meet the caretaker AIs: guardians of planets, habitats, and civilizations. What happens when machines become the spirit and soul of the worlds they protect?
I've been inactive recently because 1: Work, 2: Masterโs degree, 3: Life, 4: Writing.
And somewhere in there I have time to eat and sleep, until technology can replace that too.
Work to clean up long-lived radioactive waste at one of the worldโs most polluted places took a big step forward last week, when a facility at a former nuclear weapons site in eastern Washington state began to entomb radioactive waste in glass. https://scim.ag/47fPwEp

Why Data Centers in Space Could Launch a New Space Economy

The future of computing might be off-world. Learn how orbital data centers could power AI, solar energy, and a thriving space industry.
The goal was to make a tool you can use for any conlang.
You can define phonetics, then a dictionary, then grammar rules, number systems (because not everyone will use base 10), compare languages (say old English to modern English), and even define qnd export a ttf font.
In what little spare time I have, I started developing a tool for constructed languages based on the feedback I heard from some acquaintances.
Iโve learned a lot about how hard it is to code translation from English. Grammar rules are a lot like programming, though, so that helps.

Our current governments worldwide are dismantling their space programs, cutting investment in space, or keeping those levels stagnant.

But, what does this offer people on Earth, directly?
If you subscribe to MMT, then funding these efforts seems like an obvious thing to do since the return on investment, which would be hundreds of billions of dollars
