Absolutely irate at NYT story that includes this quote, does NOT explain what a Gleason score or grade group means, but DOES include 3 grafs of irrelevant BS about the Democratic Party. I get that breaking news is hard but this is basic journalism, and the AP story includes that info. Inexcusable.

Yes, sadly we lost the little one a few years ago and Thawra last summer at the ripe old age of 12.5. They were the best. It took us a while to feel ready for a new pup, and then Fiona needed a new home asap, so here we are. She is also the best. A bit too smart for her own good.

I have spent a lot of time in authoritarian states and dictatorships. They all had elections. They all had legislatures. It isn’t institutions or elections they make a democracy, it’s accountability.

reasonable people can quibble about how USAID does some of this, but that’s not what’s on the table—the question on the table is stark: do we want the might of the US state to provide people w/aid & assistance, or do we just want it to crush people? Do we want to protect the people who provide aid?

I have lived through a military coup: watched tanks roll down the street, distracted my toddler from them, dealt with curfew, had to make urgent calls while hearing gunshots in the distance.

Immediate threats of violence matter, but don't define coups. The illegal takeover of executive power does.
