Here's a recap of the best moments of the first hour of my day โค๏ธ ๐ชถ
Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.

Photo of Jane Goodall. Text says, "You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world areound. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." -Jane Goodall
I am heartbroken to hear that Dr. Jane Goodall has passed. She has done so much to help people better appreciate Nature, animals, & women. She will be sorely missed. ๐

Wavy-lined Emerald (Synchlora aerata) caterpillars hide by sticking flower petals to their backs. They mostly eat flowers, not leaves, which lets them use many natives like Rudbeckia, Helianthus, Solidago, Aster, and Verbena. They grow into small green moths with wavy-edged wings.

several flowerheads near the top of a tall stem, each with over a dozen bright purple-pink, tubular disk florets with five pointed lobes & long split styles. below the florets, there are rows and rows of green & purple hoary, rounded phyllaries that curve out away from the columnar flowerhead.

24.09.2025 22:35 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A front garden of this small cottage showing hints of the season. Black foliage of the spent Coreopsis contrasts with white misty flowers, reddish tones of the Little Bluestem grass, groundcovers, a dwarf conifer, and pale yellow Threadleaf Bluestar creates the backdrop and separation from the neighboring property.
This garden has been prolific all year with succession of bloom and now it will shine into the winter. I do like when Coreopsis can be all black (foreground, due to the drought and heat stress this year) and actually add to the garden because of the beautiful contrasts in color, form, life/death.
24.09.2025 22:34 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Spent blooms on the Onion punctuate the foreground with yellow Goldenrods proliferating the garden. The short one in the center is bright yellow with compact spikes. The 'Fireworks' in the background has a lacy flower texture.
I can't get enough Goldenrod and Allium. Here is A. 'Summer Beauty', S. 'Golden Fleece' (center), and S. 'Fireworks' (back right).
24.09.2025 22:24 โ ๐ 27 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0An extraordinarily fuzzy grass lights up red and glowy in the foreground... a see through effect, with the black seed heads of Coneflower behind. Yellow in the upper left is 'Fireworks' Goldenrod. Lots of seed heads from the 'Summer Beauty' Onion remain and punctuate. A stylized meadow effect in this garden.
After the summer heat and drought, 'Ha Ha Tonka' Little Bluestem takes the stage. Bravo. #nativeplants
