I kinda figured this was the case. UVa has a board of visitors that makes most policy decisions, and they're appointed by the governor. The VA governor is Youngkin, who has his head up Trump's ass.

What a good man. Shame on UVA and "a surrender of the university’s autonomy and commitment to free inquiry that, if allowed to stand by the Board of Visitors and VA’s elected officials, would send a chilling message: that public universities in VA serve political agendas, not the commonwealth.”
