No clearer example of 'the medium is the message' than Owen Jones getting paid to post dystopian doomer takes on Elon Musk's website of never ending horror.

Yeah clearly more pro-market/business probably more socially liberal. Basically no way he gets nominated by the PLP ahead of a candidate from the middle of the party imo.

Childcare, cycle to work schemes and vehicle hire schemes could all face a new tax

I think the courts have to take some responsibility, as you said the logical conclusion of this is any morally abhorrent view is protected.

David Miller managing to sue his University for unfair dismissal on the basis that antizionism is a protected belief is another example of this madness.

He was saying that the uni’s jewish society were β€œpawns of israel”.

I don’t understand why social media companies keep futzing with things like this. I just want a chronological timeline and I want that to apple to replies.

The concept of emotional labour (or at least how it is often used) it a pretty negative one.

Commodatising being a normal, and decent, human

And at a much lower rate, the current mainstream proposal is 2% on all assets of 10m which sounds like a small amount until you do the sums.

I have no idea why so many people are taking it seriously.

The smart thing that Elon Musk has figured out is that engagement algorithm driven social is a radicalisation engine and turned it up to 11.

There’s a gap in the voting market that the Tory party has vacated at a time the electorate seems open to new political parties.

Seems like something the Tory party should be concerned about.

Maybe it’s because I’ve entirely swallowed β€œneoliberal” ideological hegemony but it seems incredibly obvious that there are millions of centre right voters on the table for a party that wants to win them.

It actually is mind blowing to check out X and see what is essentially 4chan which is also populated with politicians, media figures, "thought leaders" etc.

A dystopian horror, really. Where neo-Nazis now have equal standing with mainstream leaders. There is a reason Fuentes is now so mainstreamed.

For months I've been working on the assumption that Labour will get better at governing and then the next wave of sackings happen at Number 10.

It's not looking great.

We should also ignore the media and MPs should get a grip and realise they wag the fucking dog.

The British right is swimming in an open sewer We are drifting into territory that once would have seemed extreme

"Promises were made, and lives and families built upon them. How have we reached a place where wrecking those lives is even up for discussion?"

On Powell, Heath, Lam and the descent of the British right.

Their tax raising efforts at the last budget were targeted at landowners, public schools and employers (at least in the short term).

And trying to compete with Farage on who is tougher on immigration?

Who are you governing for?

The thing I don’t understand about Labour’s political strategy is its policy is wildly left wing by modern standards but it spends all it’s communication efforts trying to appeal to Reform voters.

Ok I do understand it, it’s just obviously stupid and failing on its own terms.

Just mad to me that in broadcast reporting on the uk’s stagnant growth it’s causes are presented as a mystery as if the insane amount of extra bureaucracy we’ve imposed on importers and exporters had no impact on our productivity.

Good to see Reeves at least begin to address it.

Give us a couple of $20-$40M Star Wars movies by cool directors every year. Let them bend canon and utilize all the Lucasfilm prop, costume and set designers. Unionize the VFX artists and train them to direct too. Intro the new characters in shorts before the other movies. Play w/ genre and tone.

You’ve been able to govern the country for 70% of the time for the last 100 years from the centre right.

Might be worth considering before you fully commit to these disgusting deportation plans.

Labour are in real trouble but this looks like an extinction level event for the Tory party if they don’t pull themselves together.

YOUR SUPPORT WENT TO PLAID - THE LEFT OF CENTRE OPTION - YOU ABSOLUTE DING DONGS BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT STANDING UP *AGAINST* FARAGE. You’ve just been handed proof you have more to lose from losing your base than to gain from pursuing Reform voters!!

Seems increasingly plausible, I'm pretty right wing for a Labour supporter and I just look at the current political strategy and am appalled. God knows what your average Labour MP is thinking.
