But there’s also the boring run of the mill misogyny that‘s existed around Taylor Swift since at least Fearless. And the fact that people are still uncomfortable about sex, especially when it’s women talking. I‘m still not sure why Taylor’s sexuality in particular affects people so widely.

We have Big Feelings about Taylor Swift—fans and haters and in between—and it feels disingenuous to frame it in these anti-sex, her-lyrics-aren’t-Shakespeare ways. When we could easily just talk about the really important and totally valid problems around capitalism. Who cares if she says “dick.”

This is an excellent article by @jakebarrett25.bsky.social and I have felt seen by his writing. I think the album is great, but it’s that overall mixed messaging of the album that throws some of us off. And like a lot of us have said, some songs just aren’t her…at least to us! Great analysis!

This is an excellent article about why so many of us have strong, mixed emotions about The Life Of A Showgirl.👍 Some of the songs are forced or not relatable to a lot of us, but we have to remember we as fans helped to give her that billionaire status. The weird messaging is where we all struggle.

Overall…it’s a Taylor Swift album. With a few missteps, sure, but overall it’s good. From some things I’ve seen, I was expecting to be put off more. But while I have my complaints, it doesn’t feel like anything out of the ordinary for Taylor.

Opalite-This feels like classic Taylor Swift. You know, back when we called her a country star, not a pop star. It still has pop music trademarks, but it feels country in its bones. This one’s cool.

I love the new Taylor swift album. It’s happy and sexy and I’ve always wanted to be happy and sexy.

There is an escalation ladder here and he understands how that is the absolute last step, one you don't touch until all else has failed and you've done a lot of laying the groundwork. Things are bad, heading that way, it's deadly serious. But we're not there yet and he is right to not say it now.

It’s actually good and right to find joy even as things fall apart. Now more than ever it is good to find joy and happiness where you can. It’s ok and good not to consume the horrors all of the time.
