Foreign films are a national security threat? We’re shaking our heads. We’d laugh if this wasn’t such dangerous, authoritarian rhetoric. What other countries do this? Russia and China.

Somehow, Trump has declared that we’re under numerous national emergencies from the Southern Border Emergency to the Energy Emergency, Trade Emergency, Public Lands Emergency, and Immigration Enforcement Emergency. Yet these crises seem so “urgent” that he finds time to golf every weekend. Odd.

It seems that while many of us are physically in the same location, we live with very different perceptions of reality. This is made starker by the schism in media.

We are heading in for the night. Black History Month starts tomorrow and lessons in resistance could not come sooner.

I disagree. I think putting pressure on state schools in red states can actually make a difference. Perhaps the new administration will look more kindly if the state asks for the funds to be released on behalf of the universities. It’s a long shot, but a shot nonetheless.
