It is just…something else. I was in tears and had to read several sections twice (can’t wait to discuss it with someone who has read it!)

The Names: 'The best debut novel in years' Sunday Times The Names: 'The best debut novel in years' Sunday Times

I know it’s only February, but I’ve just finished β€œThe Names” and think it’s already a book of the year. An extraordinary read. Brutal in places, but beautifully written and quite emotional (lots of trigger warnings) amzn.to/4kl0VsC

Blindboy referred to how we’ve all been conditioned to argue online as β€˜turn-based combat’ & I can’t get it out of my head. That’s exactly what it is. A pointless gamified system that no one ever really wins, designed to keep us all busy fighting each other rather than the actual enemy

As a small business owner, it is so frustrating that every single platform I use I now have to check for customer messages (it’s either that or get bombarded by notifications).

Yes, I do feel, somehow, that it is mostly politics. The algorithm is...weird. I took it off my phone because it was getting me so down.

Brilliant #MinorIrritation solve today.

This STUPID jug has a built-in section which collects dishwasher water. ARGH!

Drilled two holes into the handle while warming my porridge. Problem solved.

Blood Splatter: the fingerprint of action
In 1995 in Illinois, Mark Winger was accused of murdering his wife Donnah and another man, whom he claimed was an intruder. Winger said he shot him in self-defence while his wife was attacking him.
However, forensic experts analysed the bloodstain patterns at the scene and on Winger’s clothing and concluded that the patterns were consistent with close-range shots being fired while the victim was on the floor, not during a struggle as Winger had described, contradicting his self-defence claim. Blood spatter evidence was a key component in convincing the jury that the shootings were intentional rather than defensive, and Winger was convicted of both murders.

More #foresnsic research, this time about blood splatter. Honestly, one of the most fascinating projects I've work on recently.

Yes, but look at the phrasing of the question - IF they walked EVERY mile they SANG ABOUT.

You could really split hairs and double it, since they are BOTH walking 8,000 miles.

If you hate this tiebreaker, you'll REVILE my last round!

The Grimpen Affair | Bookhouse Institute The Grimpen Affair is a FREE 1970s British folk horror tabletop role playing game. It is only available to members of our mailing list.

Am only making one deluxe copy. And you can have it for free.
