The Case for Abundance: Why Demand Suppression Won’t Fix the Cost of Living The composition of inflation means that the cost of living is more acute for ordinary households. Solving this requires abundance: particularly in the supply of housing and energy.

Our founding essay describes how Britain once drove our collective progress, and how we must rediscover this dynamism.

The Centre for British Progress comes out of UK Day One, an election-year project that set the scene for our work.

We now want to focus on the long-term decisions the Government needs to take to end Britain’s malaise.

Frustration with government is mounting across western countries, but we must resist the impulse to slash and burn.

The harder, but more courageous, route is one that brings people with us to build effective institutions that last.

But the challenge of agency is also about courage.

We need a state that will stand up for its decisions, that will fight for what they believe is right and take responsibility when things go wrong.

Without courage, even the best designed institutions will become impotent.
