With the turning back of the clocks, a Rook parliamentary sub-committee declared an hour of acorn-bashing at the Old Oak.
Some of of the work was subcontracted to Jackdaws.
Many acorns are bashed on the spot, while others are taken away for caching in some far flung field.

View through the dimly lit Anglo-Saxon crypt at St Wystan’s Church, Repton, Derbyshire, showing stone columns, ribbed arches and soft golden light; an atmosphere of ancient stillness.

😯 ✨Betjeman described it as 'Holy Air Encased in Stone'.

If you've never visited St. Wystan's in Repton before - deep below the surface - that first glimpse of the C9th Saxon crypt is quite something.

The Long-tailed Tits found the pool empty & scented with dried Field Maple & Hawthorn leaves - their favorites....

The Chiffchaff builds its nest with an outer shell of grass, with leaves at it's base.
It's a wonderful dome-shaped structure which is extremely well hidden, often by the side of a path.

Fox jumping into autumn leaves

In crimson, orange and bronze, autumn had arrived.
Fox had spent a rather enjoyable morning searching for the perfect collection of leaves.
She'd finally found it.
With a joyful soul and playful heart, she jumped.
In one fine leap, she pounced to catch her shadow.
