At Nuit Blanche, and overheard a man with a microphone doing something that was either a slightly-edgy spoken word piece, or a hate crime.

Hello, I’m the Chief Engineer at an aerospace company in a film. I have a blackboard on which I’ve written Newton’s law of Gravitation, and have drawn Newton’s Cannon. I can communicate with a satellite using Morse code. I’ve built a fully functional single stage to orbit vehicle in my back yard.

I had the pleasure of playing this on what I think is original hardware a few months ago. Still a fantastic game, and absolutely horrifying when you stop to think about it for more than a second.

Couldn’t make myself play a second credit.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is hands-down the best Final Fantasy 7 I’ve played in over 25 years.

Yes, yes, “imperium” and “hereditary aristocracy”, but not necessarily presented in a good light, and *very* aware of its failure modes.

Nothing that can’t be fixed with a Sawzall and a sufficiently large tugboat.

Oh, sure. The game text happens to translate these slightly differently, which gives the theme rather than the literal translation.

You can tell that this is French-French, and not Quebecois, because there’s not a single religious reference.

I am particularly enjoying the fact that they don’t always translate (but they always transcribe) the swearing.

So you get “merde” -> “fuck”, but “merde de putain” is left as-is.

Entertaining *and* educational.
