Good movie. You‘re totally right about John C. Reilly‘s perf. He does some great eye acting behind the prosthetics. Completely believable as a terribly ill man with a die-hard work ethic.

My wife & I hit the gym yesterday & encountered at the entrance a parade of children in pretty great costumes (the gym apparently serves as a community center, which is cool), & they were so excited & happy it restored my faith in humanity. My own happy memories of Halloween past are indelible.

And not one of them has the smallest iota of the creative and aesthetic vision of Prince Prospero’s chambers as seen in Corman’s film, so the horror will also be incredibly dull
