MPRB ICE sightings - Google My Maps
Sightings of ICE vehicles or personnel on Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Board property as reported to MPRB
We’ve been asked about data on where/when ICE has been in our parks. I put together a quick Google map using the summary data the commissioners receive from the superintendent regarding reported sightings.
Click on the legend and you can see incidents by date.

She said she and her volunteers have been tailed by ICE, and that agents have even shown up at her residence because some of the delivery vans they use are registered in her name.

Meeting details
The Uptown Mall plan is back on the agenda at the park board next week. Mike Erlandson and pals are extremely energized over a loss of parking.
If you support park space over parking, emails to commissioners and in-person testimony would be helpful.

A message from Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, reading:
“This is a communication from Minneapolis
Park and Recreation Board:
MPRB Youth Athletics Families,
Considering the alarming federal immigration enforcement activities currently taking place in and around Minneapolis and after hearing from families and teams, a decision has been made to cancel all MPRB youth athletics games and practices scheduled for Friday, Jan. 16 through Sunday, Jan. 18. All cancelled games will be rescheduled for a later date.
This impacts youth athletics only.
We are cancelling out of an abundance of caution for youth athletic families, officials and MPRB staff. We will reevaluate on Sunday evening and share an update early next week.
Thank you for your understanding.”
Community-
Park staff has made the difficult decision to cancel all MPRB Youth Athletics games and practices scheduled from Friday 1/16 thru Sunday 1/18 to keep our vulnerable populations out of harm’s way during the unlawful and immoral ICE occupation.
Please watch for more updates in coming days.

In my hometown of Minneapolis, there are currently two social classes There are those of white European descent of whom I am one. We are free to move about as we wish. We have no need to show identification, our physical appearance is sll we need to be trusted as a good citizens. The other classe is those of different races, including Native Americans. Because of their physical appearance, or even name or accent, they are distrusted. They must prove themselves to be good citizens, by having access to their identification at all times. This social order is kept by a militarized force made up prefominatrly of the trusted racial class. Those of non-European.descent must be prepared at all times to show immediate attention and full respect however they are treated if questioned by these officers. Otherwise, they risk being sent to prison until more steps are taken to prove they belong. This is not an exaggeration. I can come and go as I please, without worrying where my passport or identification is. My wife as a racially Asian citizen of this country must be careful to have her identification with her at all times. This is a shameful social order. It is degrading and dehumanizing. It is not an acceptable means to any end. All lives are sacred, including those who most fiercely enforce this current social order. So violence or threats are not the answer in any situation. But this is wrong and it must not continue.
Damn my college friend Jim nails it. They are segregating our cities.

Showing 3000 immigration officers to 2482 officers from the ten largest metro forces
The Star Tribune had an insane graphic about the presence of immigration enforcement in Minneapolis. There are more immigration officers in the metro right now than local police officers.

Life in Minnesota is getting invited to the house of a lady who you met in a neighborhood signal chat because she said she needed a dozen whistles and then talking for an hour in her kitchen about how to develop an anti-ICE patrol for her kid’s fucking preschool.

Elected officials need to support residents, neighbors, and community in as many ways as possible right now, and that includes keeping them in their homes. That means we need an eviction moratorium immediately.

They hate Minnesota because we are a people who believe that "we all do better when we all do better."
Minnesota is one of the wealthiest, safest, and cleanest states in the country *because* of our openness and generosity.
Our quality of life is a direct challenge to their zero-sum worldview.

Members of Congress have a legal right and constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight where people are being detained.
The public deserves to know what is taking place in ICE facilities.
