We were dissatisfied with how plowing was going, and wanted municipal shoveling! We wanted someone with experience in snowy climates making decisions around when to plow, declare snow emergencies, and ensuring sidewalks and curb cuts were accessible.

The City of Minneapolis has declared a Snow Emergency starting tonight. No parking allowed on either side of snow emergency streetsbetween 9pm & 8am tomorrow. These streets have red snow emergency route signs & blue street name signs.

I’ve taken a short break from campaign social media post-election, but I wanted to give a quick update on my health here!

On Thursday, I’m having another (hopefully final!) surgery to help get to the last stage of healing from my hospitalization in September. I’ll be back to posting in December!

Congratulations to @mfelocal59.bsky.social on their tentative contract agreement! Solidarity to all the educators who showed their willingness to fight and win!

Far too often, young people (esp. young women) get told they need to slow down or wait their turn. I think that’s nonsense. I’m excited to collaborate with them & advance progressive policies for THEIR generation and the following generations. This is our responsibility, and I’m happy they’re here.

I have a lot of thoughts about the election, and I’m thrilled to be going into office in January with progressive, pro-labor colleagues. I especially want to congratulate @kayforparks.bsky.social and @amberforparks.bsky.social on their wins though. Two of the youngest commissioners ever!

Interesting map - my opponent got a few more votes in his own precinct and Prospect Park- most of my ward 2 D1 time was spent at the U and in Como- proud of the Ward 3 results in D1 and D4 - we worked the east side! Let’s go @jason4parks.bsky.social

I also want to give credit to @katiecashman.bsky.social for the work she’s done while serving on the city council while being smeared with lies and distortions by right-wing PACs. We always talk about the misogyny of politics but rarely is it so obvious. I appreciate her courage and fortitude.

I also want to thank @dewayneforminneapolis.com and @omarfatehmn.com and @jazzformayor.bsky.social for stepping up and showing us what it can look like when caring, thoughtful adults run for office, even against each other. Your grace and kindness and the JOY you brought are invaluable.

So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, @michaelforparks.bsky.social. My win is yours. I know you’ll continue to do great things, and I hope we get to collaborate again soon.

His energy and enthusiasm are contagious- when I was on Spiced Up Civics with @charliestdennis.bsky.social, he asked who one of my role models was, and I said Michael because of that vigor and drive.

We need more people like Michael in our city and in leadership. People who care and give.

For everyone who is celebrating my victory, please know I wish more than anything that Michael could be joining me on the MPRB. Not just because we share common goals and vision, but because he is a genuinely kind human being. He and his team helped carry my campaign when I was in the hospital.

We (Mpls) really gotta delve into the differences between appealing Northside renters and Southside renters. Like we need to hear more from Northside renters.
