Several of Ms Westbrook’s comments touch on the fact that most consent decrees fail to change the culture of police forces.

MN Dept of Human Rights Commissioner just said that their research didn’t show that policies were the major problem, it was behavior.

Thrilled to hear Ms Westbrook say they could do better in sharing back with CUAPB and CCPO on which comments they incorporated and why, and that doesn’t take processes.

Just this week the CCPO asked the Internal Affairs unit to provide case summaries and were told that was onerous because of lack of resources.

In my experience on the CCPO, very very little. They keep telling us they are out of compliance due to lack of resources.

It needs to be written so that they can’t just claim they are actively investigating democrats and therefore can’t release the files. There plan is transparent. It would be nice to not wall right into it.

Definitionally, you know who it was to categorize a crime as domestic assault.

The data source I found for national didn't have domestic assault or weapons tracked. I only have the MPD slide deck, but I imagine the domestic assault close rate is so high because there is a police that pretty much requires an arrest then and there for domestic violence to protect victims.

In my mind solving crime is the most basic function of policing. It's literally the "keep criminals off the street" part, and about the only way they can actually reduce crime.

If someone robs you there is only a 16% chance MPD will arrest someone. For car theft it's only 1.4% chance. Other than homicide, they dramatically underperform a core function of policing than the national average.

The MPD recently published clearance rates. I think Minneapolis residents deserve to see these numbers every quarter or year. MPD closes far fewer cases in every category other than homicide than the national average.

Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

My entire life has been an exercise in Republicans making things worse, democrats getting elected to fix the bad things, republicans stopping them from fixing the bad things and then republicans getting voted in to make things worse. It’s incredible to think republicans may have broken that cycle.
