20.11.2025 16:06 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 4 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Several of Ms Westbrookโs comments touch on the fact that most consent decrees fail to change the culture of police forces.
20.11.2025 16:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0MN Dept of Human Rights Commissioner just said that their research didnโt show that policies were the major problem, it was behavior.
20.11.2025 16:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thrilled to hear Ms Westbrook say they could do better in sharing back with CUAPB and CCPO on which comments they incorporated and why, and that doesnโt take processes.
20.11.2025 16:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Just this week the CCPO asked the Internal Affairs unit to provide case summaries and were told that was onerous because of lack of resources.
20.11.2025 16:01 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0At the MN Justice Research Center conference today.
Arlinda Westbrook of ELEFA (consent decree overseer) just asked โhow much is the police taking on that is not required?โ
In my experience on the CCPO, very very little. They keep telling us they are out of compliance due to lack of resources.
How do you think Chief O'Hara is doing? Want to share those thoughts in his official job review? Please reach out to me.
I'm on Minneapolis's Community Commission for Police Oversight and part of our purview is providing input into the chief's annual review. www.minneapolismn.gov/government/b...

18.11.2025 21:02 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0It needs to be written so that they canโt just claim they are actively investigating democrats and therefore canโt release the files. There plan is transparent. It would be nice to not wall right into it.

100% said this and feel free to quote me on it. Also @jackiekashian.bsky.social is a fantastic comedian and you should see her when she comes to your town.
15.11.2025 22:40 โ ๐ 2200 ๐ 361 ๐ฌ 18 ๐ 13Definitionally, you know who it was to categorize a crime as domestic assault.
14.11.2025 15:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The data source I found for national didn't have domestic assault or weapons tracked. I only have the MPD slide deck, but I imagine the domestic assault close rate is so high because there is a police that pretty much requires an arrest then and there for domestic violence to protect victims.
14.11.2025 15:56 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0In my mind solving crime is the most basic function of policing. It's literally the "keep criminals off the street" part, and about the only way they can actually reduce crime.
14.11.2025 15:31 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If someone robs you there is only a 16% chance MPD will arrest someone. For car theft it's only 1.4% chance. Other than homicide, they dramatically underperform a core function of policing than the national average.

Graph showing national average and MPD clearance rates. In most categories MPD significantly under performs national average with the only exception being homicide rates.
The MPD recently published clearance rates. I think Minneapolis residents deserve to see these numbers every quarter or year. MPD closes far fewer cases in every category other than homicide than the national average.

Evidence that, were it to be released to the public, would cause his supporters to abandon him and his entire world to crumble to dust. I therefore have no choice but to give in to every one of his demands

10.11.2025 01:38 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Dems backed Trump into a corner where heโs advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing itโs a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

10.11.2025 00:35 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!
09.11.2025 00:10 โ ๐ 17623 ๐ 4591 ๐ฌ 137 ๐ 118My entire life has been an exercise in Republicans making things worse, democrats getting elected to fix the bad things, republicans stopping them from fixing the bad things and then republicans getting voted in to make things worse. Itโs incredible to think republicans may have broken that cycle.
