and many of the sound designers I admire perform their sounds,
while I'm generally very anxious about performing music, I can have a lot of fun w/simple things like this thanks to the Linnstrument's expressivity
I had to remove the app from my phone a year into the pandemic

A friend said it's "easily the darkest piece on the album" & it's *after* the one about depressive emptiness
Today's bandcamp friday, and my album is $1: matthewlyon.bandcamp.com/album/lies-i...
It's nine narrative-connected tracks that mix experimental sound design techniques & lyrical melody in a way that defies genre — @triplicate.bsky.social calls it "Leftfield Electronica" & I think that's apt
you can really tell who’s never worked in the service industry based on who romanticizes the concept of the Small Business lol

20.02.2025 16:09 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Glaringly obvious to *us*; a lot of these people were outright lied to and weren’t paying close attention, and were misled by the firehose of disinfo
Still, much lower on my sympathy list than people who made the right choice or who are too young to vote
oh, more recently, I co-created a game with a friend, which won 1st in the Autumn Lisp Game Jam
Prism Escape is a chaotic collect-and-dodge "space shooter" type game hugely inspired by the classic Mac game Crystal Quest, w/ a color-shifting mechanic inspired by Ikaruga

Professionally, I’ve done computer programming work for ~20 years, shifting towards UI design for semantically complex things. I get caremad about giving people tools to understand things, and especially caremad about preventing mistakes

"Lessons In Forgetting" recalls Soviet science fiction soundtracks, mixed with a load of chattering sample rushes. @mattly.bsky.social

Most recently, @triplicate.bsky.social published my first full-length album, Lies in Reach, described as "an exciting and delightfully leftfield selection of music to delight, confound and enrich your life"
It is the most personal piece of work I've created

I guess now that this place is taking off it’s probably time for an intro:
I make a variety of things across various media in the realms of visual art, musical composition, software programs, electronics, and more
I am a wildly spatial thinker, & deal with late diagnoses for ADHD & Dysthymia
eh, making parametric art with processing/p5js probably have the most community resources available and are easy to get going with
but like, I did a game jam recently, and am doing some UI programming for an audio plugin, and it all involves a lot of trig
Try doing some graphics programming sometime and you can do the same thing with trig
