So excited to be involved in this! A such a good way to volunteer all that local history know-how to what is looking like it will become such a great hub for primary (and hopefully following that secondary!) schools

βœ…how similarity & difference is key to dev nuanced & diverse picture of past
βœ…the value of using popular history as interpretations

Coaching trainees, contributing to curriculum design and delivering disciplinary training has revitalised my love of history education. Alongside the work-life balance I’ve now found, I’m heading into this Christmas break with a smile on my face.

My first term out of the classroom has been a delight. Working in the amazing History team at Teach First has shown how rewarding it is to dedicate and use your experience to help others starting out on their teaching journey….

Great to see an influx of educators onto here the past couple of weeks. Hopeful it will revive that community aspect that got lost on the other place.
Long time no see to lots of lovely faces!

In response to @petejackson.bsky.social sharing his latest Y7 assessment here's ours for the first 3 enquiries for Y7. Built upon @michaelfordham.bsky.social mixed constitution idea and MCQ quality and @sehartsmith.bsky.social examples from last year. Thoughts/critique welcome!

Here are two of our new assessments, based on the work of Jonnie Grande, @sehartsmith.bsky.social and others. I'd love any comments or reflections!

Overview of structure in thread, along with Y7 example.

Year 9 have just been looking for patterns in the protest movements of 20th Century Britain:

Fantastic sessions at our Autumn Institute Hub Networking Day. Great to see trainees’ reflections on their training so far and how they came to us on TF. Primary and secondary, across all phases and subjects - brilliant day.

So excited to see them in the classroom after October half term.

Yep. As someone else posted, the book even gives schools the green light to do it. Definitely a link to retention (female teachers in 30s leaving profession)

When I went 0.8 I got 0.8 of TLR. I argued the point that I still did full role etc but didn’t get anywhere. However in previous school, I know there were part time staff with TLRs who did get full

1 - childcare responsibilities vs the inflexibility of working in a school
2 - the attitudes of some students towards young female teachers
3 - women getting β€˜capped’ at middle management
4 - lack of support still surrounding women’s health like periods, perimenopause etc
5 - being overlooked

Bayeux was another highlight on our #Normandy adventure.
Ticked the Bayeux Tapestry off the bucket list.
Also interesting to see how much architecture survived WW2 compared to neighbouring Caen due to how objectives in the Battle of Normandy played out.
