“I grow old ... I grow old ... I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled. Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach? I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach. I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.”

Saw Ms. Lansbury in “Gypsy” mid-70s.
The greatest musical performance by an actress I had ever seen until your ‘Mama Tyne’ on B’way, who equaled her.
From what I witnessed (until 2000), only Donna Murphy in “The King and I“ *and* Joanna Gleason in “Into the Woods“ reached such stratospheric heights.

Portrait of me at my desk.
(Gus Leonard, in the room below, is making too much noise with his 'gentleman callers'.)

Opinion | Never Cook at Home (Published 2018)

The NYTimes piece (below), in the preamble to the recipe, means that my grandmother would love you.
As she aged and ate fewer vegetables, my aunt *insisted* that she consistently eat one vegetable a day - so she did.
Every night for dinner, a bowl of popcorn chased down with a bourbon on the rocks.

And then, 'Cinderella' aired on the small screen in March 1957 to the tune of "107 million viewers."

[The population of the United States was about 170 million.]

This sounds wonderful. At what point is it best to remove the "cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, bay leaves and cloves"? Before going into the refrigerator, before reheating, before serving, or letting the guests remove them as they discover them as they eat?

Leontyne Price Opera Farewell "O patria mia" Aida
YouTube video by Onegin65 Leontyne Price Opera Farewell "O patria mia" Aida

As I wrote on 🐦, I was lucky to witness the 1st of the 4 performances she gave that last season, then watched this performance live on PBS. Seeing it in person was one of the highlights of my life. And I was lucky to be given a fifth row left orchestra seat for the final act.
Her reaction here:👌

Happy 99th Birthday to the divine Leontyne Price, seen here bringing the Metropolitan Opera House to a standstill with her final O Patria Mia in Aida in 1985.

The ovation lasted several minutes, and the great lady—overcome with emotion—fell to her knees in gratitude.

This would be the very first song that I’d play (followed by Apollo 100s “Joy”, then Steve Reich’s Music for Eighteen Musicians”):

Feeling a little hungrier than you:
Maine lobster cocktail followed by a wee drink to clear the palate, then some Beluga Caviar, Chicken Consommé, and a Filet Mignon Rossini.
After a brief rest, a mixed green salad, then an individual baked Alaska. I'll happily share your non-blue cheeses with you.
