The amount of people I know who were suspect of Connolly's keepy-uppy video being AI and who looked closer to be sure of it is a good sign for media literacy.

Most Researchers Do Not Believe AGI Is Imminent. Why Do Policymakers Act Otherwise? | TechPolicy.Press Tech Policy Press fellow Eryk Salvaggio says it is dangerous to the public interest for policymakers to center the pursuit of AGI in AI policy.

Sรฉamas O'Reilly: We need to stop lying about what makes lost boys such easy marks for cons Economically depressed young men are aggressively targeted with the oldest, most seductive pitch there is โ€” money for nothing โ€” by bad faith actors with enormous wealth

I wrote this on young men, and why we need to stop lying about why they're easy prey for reptiles like Andrew Tate.

The spending of โ‚ฌ120,000 on a scanner that has never been used is likely to be examined by the review of how the Department of Arts and Culture supervises the institutions under its remit recently announced by the Minister, Patrick Oโ€™Donovan, Government sources say.

Mr Oโ€™Donovan was due to brief the Cabinet on the issue on Tuesday when he brings the annual report of the National Gallery to the Cabinet for approval.

RTร‰ reported this morning that the X-ray scanner, purchased by the Gallery eight years ago, has never been used because a suitable room for it has not been found.
On his way into Cabinet this morning Tรกnaiste Simon Harris said that his reaction was โ€œabsolute furyโ€ when he heard about the issue.

The total cost of the controversial new Dรกil printer which did not fit into its designated room will be more than โ‚ฌ2 million, it has now emerged.

The clerk of the Dรกil, Peter Finnegan, has submitted a new report to the Dรกilโ€™s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) outlining additional costs to those already outlined in previous correspondence.

The new figures show the cost is higher than the โ‚ฌ1.6 million outlined by the Oireachtas a number of weeks ago.

The last thing I'll say is that Science Gallery paid and commissioned artists for 3-5 exhibitions every year. This is rare these days, especially in the science engagement space.

In the sector I work in, Science Gallery was one of the biggest employers. And it could do this for the same reason that 'sustainable business model' is an inaccurate framing for somewhere like this - because our work supported scientific research in and beyond the university.

Trinityโ€™s Science Gallery will not reopen after failing to find sustainable business model University to transform flagship exhibition space on Pearse Street into campusโ€™s first student centre

Trinity have finally confirmed that Science Gallery Dublin will not reopen. The focus has been on how much of a cultural loss this is (which I agree with), but it also represents a lot of job losses in a small, struggling sector.
