With options narrowed, the core narrative established, and the tension rising I'm feeling good about the next session. I've got a better idea of what to focus on and how to better prepare for and execute Act 2.

Love the system but didn't really find my stride as GM. Trying to play as written and I agree with many of the reviews I've seen; there is A LOT going on here for the GM to remember, track, and justify. I thought I was prepared but felt I dropped the ball a couple of times on the night.

Ran my first session of Alien RPG (1e) playing the Heart of Darkness Scenario. Really great themes, really happy with the tone established at the table. My 5e group clicked with the mechanics after a short primer and leaned right into the spirit of the game. The players had a blast which is nice.

If there is 'a widespread perception among much of the public' that egg-stealing goblins hide in their attic you don't address their 'legitimate concerns' by declaring a war on attic goblins, you point out loudly & confidently the truth: that their beliefs are insane, propagated by nasty crackpots.

What has been clear to me more & more, as a teacher/friend/researcher/human, is that suffering comes for us all. It wears different faces, is exacerbated or alleviated by so many structures that support or fail us, & there’s so much standing in the way of saying “I’m hurting” in the present tense.

I'm running out of combinations of words in which to express that $60 for a 400 page colour rule book is not overpriced. Same goes for a $35 PDF of said book.
This hobby is just too used to and comfy with undervaluing creators and their work.
