Just watched Little Miss Sunshine again after many years. Still as good as ever.

Adil Ray on whats happening in Gaza: "where is the line for the UK govt?"

Decapitating babies. Murdering journalists & medics. Raping people to death. Bombing hospitals. Starving 2m people. Blowing up universities. Burning people alive. Its been clear throughout that the UK govt has no line.

This is what it comes down to in terms of how we actually function in society: not β€œwhat is a woman?”, but β€œhow do you know I’m a woman?” Nobody has ever asked to inspect my gametes or chromosomes. Presentation is literally all anyone is going on.

This thread on PIP is essential reading for those of us lucky enough never to have had to claim it, yet.

Labour Party was founded in 1893 and stood on policies that included State provision for the sick, elderly, and unemployed as Hardie and Cunninghame Graham had argued for many years certainly since the creation of the Scotish Labour Party, 1888, to argue Labour is only for workers is obsene.

800+ programme-makers condemn censorship and racism after BBC pulls Gaza documentary Gary Lineker, Khalid Abdalla, Anita Rani, and Miriam Margolyes have joined over 800 film, TV, and media workers in condemning censorship and racism after the BBC pulled a documentary about children…

"Silencing a child’s firsthand account of survival in Gaza, where over 13,000 children have been killed since October 2023, is not about compliance but about erasing Palestinian suffering"

Everything Starmer does makes me feel sick & outraged. This is just another example of his total lack of principle, ethics, and humanity. It disgusts me.

The Prime Minister shouldn’t be engaging β€” let alone reviewing arms sales β€” with someone that has an active ICC arrest warrant for war crimes.

Rachel Reeves has reportedly weakened planned changes to the non-dom tax regime after β€œintense lobbying from wealthy UK residents”. I look forward to seeing if β€œintense lobbying” from disabled people will stop Labour cutting benefits.

The violence against Palestinians in the West Bank is a reminder that genocide, ethnic cleansing and apartheid have not ended.

We will never stop opposing the occupation of Palestine because we believe in a simple and moral truth: every human being deserves to live in freedom.

I just don't think we'll agree on this, but it's been an interesting interaction.

Catching up on SA20 JSKvMICT. I absolutely love watching Jonny Bairstow bat. Disappointed he's no longer in the England test squad despite there being exciting new players.

They've made choices and I think they're the wrong ones. Why hit the most vulnerable when there are immensely rich people who can bear the brunt? Why allow companies to continue to pump sewage into our water & take bonuses which we pay for?

It depends whether we think more privatisation will address the 'lobotomising' of the NHS, or pandering to racists' "legitimate concerns" will stop the rise of Reform. Is there anything Labour has done to materially improve people's lives? It's what most people wanted when they voted Labour.

Could've said the same about Labour before last election - no values, no policies, no plans - it was their electoral strategy & it worked, so here we are now.

No surprise. They're all ghouls who don't have any time for the needs of the people. It'll be their downfall and ours, but they will find themselves new high paying jobs while we rot.

Labour made it pretty clear it didn't want any left winger or progressive involved in their party. They hate us and then expect us to defend their cruel choices. Not that we should ever pay any attention to Nick Cohen's ramblings.

The only way the right can win state power is to acknowledge the deep suffering that has been created by decades of rising inequality, and blame this suffering on some β€˜other’ - migrants, criminals, deviants etc.

That othering is, of course, the prerequisite for fascism.

If you give more contracts to the private sector, staff get pulled away from the NHS to the private sector.

Private capacity grows, NHS capacity shrinks.

It's not temporarily reliving the NHS - it's killing it off.

The private sector receives 20% of NHS funds for helping 10% of patients.
