In 2020, federal troops rampaged through Portland: unmarked cars, tear gas, rubber bullets. I was there. It was hellish.

But we got through it then, and we will again. Portlanders are resilient. Stay peaceful, protect your rights, take care of each other. 💛

Portland, Oregon is a terrific city - it is not and has not been war torn. No federal occupation necessary or wanted as far as I can tell as a recent former resident and visitor with lots and lots of friends and connections and work there.

I'm asking all Oregonians to find your legislators oregonlegislature.gov call/write/visit. This land is OUR land and they can't just take it from us without our say so.

I live in Portland, Oregon and I inend to continue being an American - free to say my mind, gather with others to protest, and freely vote for my future.

All my life I've been proud to be an American, to be part of this grand experiment. But that's the point isn't it? It's an experiment - in making our own choices and in engaging in our own governance - that we're participating in and that experiment is currently under some real stress.
