I figured out why I stopped playing videogames though. There is basically only time for one of them.

AI are fed the same corpus of human output, what is being revealed is the shape of all human thought. Before unseen themes will arise that are universal threads of humanity. LLM's are the instrument of this cognitive cohesion.

If a million people downloaded cod that's like 10 mil in egress costs on azure

So do they have sweetheart deals with the service providers that they don't have to cover the cost of those downloads or something? Someone has to eat those transfer costs and that's a pretty huge egress given how many people install it.

Gonna put in my will that they have to make an AI based on me, but there will be secret instructions to the lawyer to actually base the AI on Gonzo from the muppets.

You know what, yeah this is probably what I'm going to do. The supply issue is so out of control there really is no other option besides getting him into a different game. (someday i'll teach him netrunner)

The thing about supporting academia is that you are both surrounded by the most intimidatingly smart people you've ever met, but also reminded of that one "School for the Gifted" Far Side comic on a daily basis.

Dropped XCOM for some wacky dosbox issue I didn't feel like fixing. Started playing Xenonauts. It's a really great update to XCOM('94).

I can see some aspects wearing thin, but I can see defaulting to this instead of the original here on out.

Like I get it, sometimes you just want one guy dead. And it's better to use it than dropping a 500lb on the dudes fam.
But there is something so crazy about using conventional weapon systems to drop an assassination missile.

The Hellfire RX9 is an insane weapon. You gotta think the designer at some put put down the pencil, stared into nothing and muttered "are we the bad guys?"

I've been getting back into OpenXCOM. I'm humming along taking out UFOs, building and researching, doing great. Then my first terror mission was a disaster. 8 of 10 soldiers died. Basically starting over with a fresh squad. This game is perfect.

Watching the five year olds add new rules to War because the game is "dumb" fills me with pride.

I thought I would be happy moving from a mac to windows. But I gave up things looking and moving nice for configuration freedom.

I wish work allowed linux. Then I could make things look nice, do what I want, and troubleshoot dependency errors all day.
