A serving police officer, passionate about policing, politics and where they overlap.
I think we know why it's not front page news.
27.09.2025 11:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Wow.
23.09.2025 07:38 β π 521 π 182 π¬ 42 π 7It's the idea they will play themselves into form. But it's all so static, so easy to defend.
21.09.2025 16:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Bear with me, I anticipate your disagreement. There is a clear pattern to the advice given to those who want to press back against rising racism. What it boils down to is that if you point out that racism is often being dressed up as βlegitimate concernsβ you will alienate people. /1

08.09.2025 14:43 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is where they have to do their homework and then keep pushing. Where is Eddie Mair when you need him.

26.08.2025 10:48 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Come on Farrukh, this isn't one of your best, woman talks on TV doesn't feel like holding the government to account.
21.08.2025 20:18 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Come on guys what's more patriotic than a thin see through nylon St George's cross cable tied half way up a lamp post in the dead of night by a bloke in a balaclava.
20.08.2025 07:59 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0So you're saying for the first time in a decade we aren't getting poorer. I suppose it's a start.

02.08.2025 13:15 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Maybe we need to build relationships with people we don't agree with, professional relationships, as a barrister you should be aware of having to represent people you don't agree with.
02.08.2025 11:10 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0It is all about control, all of Farage's vehicles have worked when it is just him, put another person in there with any sort of ambition and it falls apart. It would be a cabinet of yes men, nobody worth their salt would work in that environment.
31.07.2025 10:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Come and join up, become a special you can do it yourself.
The evidence is in the open if they thought his comments crossed the line he would be arrested, but luckily he is just asking questions. In the same way the chap in the story just had a "trowel".
Nothing would give me more pleasure but I think it would make a martyr of him. You need the press to do their job, you can't arrest your way out of every problem.
28.07.2025 17:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It is funny when your only frame of reference is the leftwing feeling hard done by.
And how the right wing would argue two tier policing and the silencing of the right in response to that view.
And the reality is somewhere in the middle.
We don't write the laws, we interpret them as best we can and try to apply them to the situations in front of us, the law is complicated and officers might get it wrong, particularly new laws which haven't been tested. Freedom to protest in the UK is protected and police facilitated on the whole.
28.07.2025 16:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There will always be failings, police are human, they reflect society. But most are caring and brave and do the right thing, they reflect society, but a broad brush ACAB is a comforting way to not have to engage in a balanced way. Inside there is real movement in challenging and changing culture.
28.07.2025 16:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I understand the issues, these are dreadful cases but writing off all officers ignores those working hard to change things, those broad generalisations are no help to reform.
28.07.2025 15:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We do the job, we did it here, locking up the white bloke with a big knife, but still get grief.
The work that goes into investigating misconduct is huge, and Sarah Everard will forever sit as a reminder to officers to do more, but it isn't a trump card against all policing you disagree with.
That is literally the job Sharkboy, use the powers given by the state, arrest the people breaking the law etc etc. why has this article not got a picture of the "trowel" so we can see how foolish the officers were to mistake it for a knife or sharply blades article.
28.07.2025 14:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Amazing how many people who are carrying screwdrivers are just popping to change a light switch, or Stanley knives are fitting carpets or carrying baseball bats in the car for a game of rounders but without a ball etc etc.
28.07.2025 12:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No if you want a solicitor you can have a solicitor, but you have to wait for them, no bullshitting, there is a shortage of solicitors.
28.07.2025 12:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0But...
Starmer is in power.
Losing with more votes is still losing.
I hope the chief constable has demanded he resigns.
