Add the fact the GOP in HR 1 took dead aim at the healthcare sector, it all seems like willful destruction of parts of the economic system that work for people.

To me, today's jobs report is what entering a recession looks like. Could we pull up? Sure. But if we look back and end up dating an official recession that starts 3-6 months from now, this is what it would look like today - rapid softening/deterioration in the labor market.

The GOP is running the economy into a ditch, taking away jobs from ordinary people, and then threatening to take away healthcare from people because they can’t find work in the crappy economy the GOP created. They’re rigging the rules to shift more wealth and power to billionaires.

And at the end of the day, what she voted yes for is basically a back door repeal of the ACA.

I will never EVER forget how some Dems cheered for Murkowski when she voted to save the ACA (along with Susan Collins and John McCain). The bar is in hell and we give out gold stars for doing the least.

After recently drawing a fair amount of attention when she shared how she serves with no insignificant amount of fear of MAGA, her vote on the bill and then post-vote handwringing can only be understood as extreme cowardice.

Occurs to me that here JD Vance is pretty openly telling MAGA voters who are set to lose health coverage due to Medicaid cuts not to think too much about that eventuality. It'll all be worth it once they get to see lots more migrants detained and frog-marched on to deportation planes.

Which is what identity politics as coined by the Combahee River Collective, was intended to do. Be the center of a critical politic that builds solidarity within and across identities that share that questioning of power, not a replacement for that critical politic.

One thing I have to apologize for is completely underestimating the political power and durability of Birtherism. We thought it was a joke. Trump recognized a underbelly that looked and felt just like him.
