I’m Tired Of These Useless Jackasses Making The Computer Expensive RAM, flash memory, and HDDs are unaffordable because of a bunch of greedy idiots that do not love the computer.

Brilliant and foul-mouthed encapsulation of mine and many tech lover's feelings:

I had this happen after getting a new car. Someone with the exact same model parked one space closer to my office.

I grabbed the door handle and when it didn't beep I thought "WTF, did I leave it unlocked?" I pulled the door open and wondered "When did I leave a McDs soda in the cup holder??"

Oooh

This has been on my "want to play" list forever, but finding a copy hasn't ever come together for me. Good to hear it's still a banger. I'll get to it eventually I'm sure :)

Also, this is not an apology:

"I apologize if you found anything in my remarks to be hurtful"

You can't apologize for something someone else did, or for their perception of your actions. It shifts the blame away from yourself. Using "if" also avoids actually acknowledging any wrongdoing.

Not to diminish the whole Ai angle of this story, but IMO he should have been fired just for writing this monstrosity:

Sometimes there is, and sometimes there is not. (In fact, much more often than not).

I have zero reason to believe that an AI couldn't "come up with Tiny Towns or Flip Seven or Cubitos". I can prompt any of several AIs RIGHT NOW and get ideas for games as good as those. The gaming industry doesn't exist because humans create otherwise unobtainable ideas. It exists because many many previous games exist, feed into the minds of designers, who produce new variants on those themes. People then apply risk capital against those ideas to see if there's a product market fit. Sometimes there is, and sometimes there is not. (In fact, much more often than not).

Extremely occasionally (twice in my lifetime: D&D and Magic: the Gathering) a human has produced an all new form of gaming entertainment. Those moments are so rare and incandescent that they echo across decades.

Game publishing isn't an industry of unique special ideas. It's an industry about execution, marketing, and attention to detail. All things AIs are great at.

Ryan Dancey, a more than 30-year veteran of the tabletop gaming industry, has lost his COO job at publisher AEG a day after saying AI could generate game ideas as good as his company’s titles Tiny Towns and Cubitos:

Like many, I also deal with imposter syndrome, but even so I've never once looked at something made with Ai and thought "Oh no, I couldn't do that, I'm in trouble."

The fact that CEOs think Ai can replace others is probably just projection as they realize it could definitely do *their* jobs.

Honeypot looks great and I'm very tempted. But I'm sure every game would stretch forever as a few in my group are very AP prone and would have to game out every turn for 10 minutes trying to split those 6 cards into pairs.

It looks like a real feat of design and the art is fantastic!

This is the misunderstanding that entirely fuels the Ai bubble right now - Ai can come up with a billion ideas for games like Cubitos or Tiny Towns.

So can a child.

Have I had any of my designs published despite working off and on for years?

Nope. Because ideas are worthless without execution.

Don't worry, you can just play a second campaign and choose the other next time!

What if the Ai knows this guy's an idiot troll and assumed he's asking a trick question?

If it had just said "You should drive" he might have replied "Oh but I didn't say I wanted to wash my car *at* the car wash - I just stated two unrelated facts."

Even an algorithm can see this guy coming.

If at some point you need someone to test a potential TTS import module, I can help.

I've developed multiple games in TTS for their publishers and have original files, etc.

The dream of robots delivering stuff, etc, was that people wouldn't have to do menial jobs.

The unspoken bit varies with your income level. The rich see a way to not have to pay people for work.

The rest of us imagine a world of non-menial jobs.

Now we see which one was always more realistic.

We don't know how things will shake out, but I'm happy to see projects like mothership.blog and critical-distance.com attempting to fill in the gaps and coalesce thoughtful commentary.

Vibe coding results in "vibe errors" :)

Adobe has embraced Ai so maybe they are using it to update their apps now too.

AI Doesn’t Reduce Work—It Intensifies It One of the promises of AI is that it can reduce workloads so employees can focus more on higher-value and more engaging tasks. But according to new research, AI tools don’t reduce work, they consisten...

Ai can't do your job for you, but it can make it even more stressful and demanding.

I want to thank people who took the time to read the document and watch the video I shared. It is also important to me that it is understood: I do not believe Matthew, Paula, Monique or Naveen (or anyone else) had involvement (or awareness) of the actions the owner of Game Night Picks took. 1/4

I know NYC isn't the same as central California, where the coldest nights are in the 30's and today's low will be 47, but I'm kind of surprised our suburban neighborhood's local ice cream truck hasn't started hawking its wares yet.

They're usually playing their ditty up and down the streets by now.

Is it more like Charterstone or My City?
