Sometimes the intrusive thoughts are right but this is a broken clock phenomenon, usually when I've made something that is pretty much just for me and it gets posted anyway.

That's more or less my point, there would be minimal benefit. If they could not help the Dems get the gavel in either chamber they are of little use even if they would vote for economically progressive bills, because chamber control is what really sets what gets passed or not.

Red state voters know who the de facto Dem is, it would have to truly be an independent party which would not caucus with Democrats and vote with Republicans on social issues.
