Through a twist of fate, my accompaniment for the movie was 10 years old. Yakusho was *so* fucking good that the kid misunderstood the movie: he thought it was a documentary and that Yakusho was actually a toilet cleaner, not a big name celebrity.

"Great conversation" in the "Why does this foreigner insist it's a Japanese movie, when Wenders gets primary billing? Oh, it's a shared credit? And it's Yakusho Koji? Sounds very Japanese!" way.

I still talk about this one all the time: great movie, *great* acting, great writing, great cinematography. Also, I'd guess maybe 10-20% of the Japanese people to whom I mention the movie have seen it, so it's a great conversation.
