I have a very good source telling me that Farioli is being lined up for Brentford, and I'm hoping that this doesn't mean what I think it does.

Because we lost key players at the same time and have had to manage their minutes since they've been back while going deep into two cup competions unlike Brighton.

When the players take a month off in the summer they come back for 6 weeks of pre season and would not be expected to be fully match fit for the beginning of the season, but we have players out for months an expect them to fit straight in.

I had a Crystal Palace supporter bet me £5 that Palace would finish above Spurs at the beginning of the season. I wish some of the players had that bet then they might find the incentive.

They're professional footballers, they want to win every game, but they also want to win some games more than others and it's understandable if they want to win the Europa games more than the league games.

I think that the big problem has been that since we got our injured players back, the bottom three were so bad that we were never in danger of being relegated, and we never had a realistic chance of qualifying for Europe via the league. No incentive to be better.
