The allegations following this war crime are completely unhinged.

The White House was made in a neoclassical style to honor the principles of the Roman republic. It was an intentional choice to differentiate the values of the new republic from the ostentation of European monarchs, who, at the time of the building of the White House, were obsessed with baroque.

mRNA vaccines are one of the most important tools we have for preventing future catastrophic pandemics because we can update them more quickly than any other vaccine technology in response to new emerging viruses & variants.

RFK Jr cancelling millions in mRNA research makes the world far less safe.

it has been said over and over but it’s worth reiterating in the face of this horrifying decision: RFK is quite literally joining the war on cancer on the side of cancer

We could have had cancer vaccines, and instead the United States will contribute nothing whatsoever to mRNA research, condemning millions of people worldwide to unnecessary illness and death

We’ve discovered a literal miracle with almost unlimited potential and it’s being scrapped for *no reason whatsoever*. This isn’t even nihilism, it’s outright worship of death and human suffering.

i have been thinking a lot about how the entire concept of β€œthe deal” is antithetical to transparency, fair play and rule of law, as larry notes. the deal is necessarily nonstandard, ad hoc and dependent on the whims of the dealmaker

A thing I think we miss is that the β€œauthoritarian playbook” isn’t a set of instructions authoritarians are reading from, it’s just a list of things that happen when narcissists get too much power.

Opinion: How Norway cracked the code for electric-vehicle adoption As Canada fails to implement compelling incentives for new-car buyers and commit to building EV infrastructure, it can look to Norway for a blueprint

Make no mistake. The powerful fossil fuel lobby is behind the opposition to EVs in Canada. There's no reason we can't hit the 100% ZEV target by 2035. Norway, a COLD country, is there already. Big Oil & Gas are undermining our #RenewableEnergyTransition.

Lemme just say if President Bernie Sanders had unilaterally imposed, by executive fiat, hundreds of billions of new taxes, personally browbeat executives about job cuts and investments and then fired the head of BLS, the Chamber of Commerce and the business orgs would not be sitting idly by.

the one thing i genuinely did not anticipate from this administration was its vicious, know nothing hostility to any and everything that might even be adjacent to science and scientific research. they genuinely one to destroy the entirety of the nation’s research capacity. and for what, exactly?

Air conditioning is an important and lifesaving adaptation to climate change.

We're in the Orbanization of our media system now. It's happening.

CNN's Brian Stelter drew this assessment from GΓ‘bor Scheiring, "who experienced Viktor OrbΓ‘n's autocratic power plays in Hungary firsthand as a member of the Hungarian parliament." view.newsletters.cnn.com/messages/175...

Let’s talk about something that makes me want to vomit: the manosphere.

Because a new study from Emelia Sandau and @luccousineau.bsky.social reveals its gnarly offline impact β€” starting in classrooms.

Luc joins me on the show this week to explain.

a scholar with high standing in his field, should be "counterbalanced" by a columnist notorious for his incendiary, click-mongering, and manifestly ideological takes. And this is before we address the perversity of treating the legal designation of genocide as something to debate in the Opinion section.

I truly intended this just as an email and not a public thing but fuck it we ball. The New York Times is not alone in its culpability but it is deeply culpable and its near-monopoly status in our blighted American media ecosystem allows it to do what it does.
