This is why I always wear cargo pants on a plane. Phone, wallet, passport are always attached to me

This looks awesome. Pledge and help make it happen, I want to read these

No water coming out of my well right now. Love this for me, definitely everything else is going so smoothly that a little friction is just what I need right now

This book store has shelved Mats Sundin as a Canadian author. Love it

It's so frustrating that he was the best option, because everything that's happened since the election was predictable.
I'm glad it's not PP, but why can't the bar just be a little bit higher?

My daughter was born in 2006 (oh god that's so long ago), so that tracks.

I've heard of Paramore for years, but somehow it was only in the past few days that I discovered how much they rock. How did I miss this one?

It's so bad! And it used to be pretty good!
They've made a useful, if flawed, product worse, at the cost of a lot of engineer time. It's probably more expensive to operate, too.

Not an original sentiment: Fishes and Forks from season 2 of the bear is a remarkable achievement.
Two episodes like that, back to back, absolutely incredible. Richie's evolution throughout Forks is some of the best acting I can remember

Went to see the Beetlejuice musical with my daughter last night. Great show, but I was not expecting the plot to go where it did. Direct hit in the emotions

Love service providers that make you phone to cancel, and then just leave you on hold until the end of time

This is incredibly beautiful storytelling.

The movie ended on a freeze frame kiss (spoiler alert). I forgot about those, great stuff

Watching Armageddon. I miss living in a world where the idea of the government doing a hard thing to solve a big problem seemed realistic.

Not intended as an insult to YA, btw. I enjoy it, and read it semi-regularly. It just never quite rises to the best of the best *for me*

Next up: Sunrise on the Reaping. Love the original Trilogy, didn't read the Snow prequel (but did sort of watch the movie).
This was a good Hunger Games book. Haymitch is a great character, the arena stuff was fun, and so was the lead up to it.
4/5, which is pretty much where YA tops out for me

Haven't updated in a while. I finished the Martian Contingency. It will not surprise you to learn that I loved it. She's a great writer, these are great characters, no misses yet

Unstated in my post is that we'd be far better off if Carney were someone the Cons would elect. 20 years ago, he would have been

03.05.2025 22:28 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Canada would be so much better off if Carney ran for the Conservative party so we could have someone viable to the left of him (and nobody viable to the right)

Desperately resisting the urge to correct everyone calling Carney the *new* Prime Minister. He's been PM for weeks already.

Finished The Relentless Moon. First time I read it, all I wanted was more Elma and the Mars mission, so I missed out on what it actually was. So much better than I remembered, Nicole is a fabulous character. Her ending made me smile. Another 5/5, can't wait to start The Martian Contingency tomorrow

Two posts, one from Reuters talking about layoffs at FDA leading to suspension of food quality cuts, the other from MSNBC about a deadly E. Coli outbreak

For whatever it's worth, "Future Days" was released after the game infection day, too.

Investigating & prosecuting the people who do the bad things, and then putting them in jail, would have the exact same effect as legislating abortion rights would have - they can no longer run on the fear of the Other Guy taking it away.
Morally vacuous fundraising bots, the lot of them
