Absolute mess. Code, art, writing, games (video & ttrpg)— sometimes I make things, but I don't really talk much. Hiking and music fan. (queer - he/any) Itch: https://jeck.itch.io/

I did layout on those so I'm a bit biased, but imho they're excellent games with focused design that offer unique experiences.

No, I mean right now. Go tell someone you loved their work right now. They're on social media just say it, it has never been easier
"They know how much people love--" no they don't go say it right now to a composer or artist or game dev or writer or anyone AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
Whoah. I've never really understood birding as a hobby but if you can take shots like that, yea, it makes sense now. The mallards!

(The photos have an excellent mood to them, btw. The way the water sparkles work with the dark backdrop in the second one... definitely a vibe. What are you shooting with?)
Wait so. Do swans... live near Loch Ness?

Rent DVDs from libraries. Use the money you save to buy more physical media and go out to dinner at locally owned restaurants with your friends.

Embrace the weirdness of the body. We're snotty, hungry, leaky, horny animals that are easily frustrated, excited, and startled.

My major takeaway is DON'T SELF-CENSOR YOUR OWN WRITING. You don't know what will or will not be restricted!! Do not comply in advance!!!
There was a gorgeous dyke/trans bar called "Le Monocle" in 1930s Paris. Monocles were a bit like wearing a pride flag among the queer people assigned female at the time, like in this colorized 1937 photo. Nazis shut down the bar during the war, but many patrons stayed in touch for years after. 🧐

"Batman doesn't do that" was such a wildly off-base take.
Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.
OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.
(Obviously I'm packed and ready to evac when they say go, but having the place I live burn down would suck.)
06.09.2025 03:26 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Fire's doubled in size. It's about six miles away. I'm worried about tonight. Per the county fire page, potential for (rainless) thunderstorms and gusty outflows coupled with very dry conditions could lead to extreme fire behavior.

We had the warning and the wind in our favor, the luxury of a place to go early. Folks on the other side of the fire went from "be aware" to "go now" real quick.
A rural road at night, illuminated by headlights. In the distance a mountain is outlined in glowing red smoke, looking like dawn is coming in the middle of the night. This is a sure sign of a fire on the other side.
Wound up at a friend's house across town, well outside the danger zone. Our place is only level 1 evacuation warning, but when this is the view from your street... time to go.
Also the dry lightning out in the mountains didn't seem encouraging. Fingers crossed.
8 miles away. Gonna shut down computers and start packing.
I keep thinking of that quote: "Climate change will manifest as a series of disasters viewed through phones with footage that gets closer and closer to where you live until you're the one filming it."
Hope it's not my turn.
