Spending over 30 pages in a boat with Ged, just sailing into and out of rain, watching pages go by and knowing that a Big Dang Whatever is going to happen & no idea what it will be. This is one of the best books I've read in ages. Yilin's selections, her translations, and her observations are a beautiful and gentle introduction to Chinese poetry.

The whole reason it came to mind is an Irish account that follows past Top 10 songs posted about Shakira, and I suddenly remembered one of his posts about a dishwasher or porter who sang the opening of Hips Don't Lie for days. I think the post was even titled "Shakira, Shakira". 😂

He might have had a book, I can't recall. That was when mommyblogging, Perez Hilton, and others were in full swing and quite a few of them got book deals. I simply can't remember a name at all. Was Robert a pseud?

Does anybody remember that blogger in the early 2000s who was a maitre d' or concierge at a restaurant in NYC? He posted anonymously and had some amazing anecdotes about back-of-house operations. I can't recall the name of the blog and a web search has proven futile.

Ivan Aivazovsky's painting "Ship on Stormy Seas" depicts a wildly canting sailing ship in the middle distance of a storm-ridden sea. In the foreground, a wave of flawless translucent blue forms, and it's so incredibly depicted I could just vomit.

I recently learned about Russian painter Ivan Aivazosky and I may never recover. I don't think I've ever seen water done like he does it. I don't think I've ever felt an artist loved water as much as I feel he must have. It's so incredible I could vomit.

Weleda smells like rosemary and a few other herbs. I'm not sure it would be classified as "subtle", but it's definitely herby rather than flowery or fruity. Get the Skin Food Light — the other Skin Food is very, very thick. I'm also fond of L'Occitaine's Lemon Verbena — a very light texture.
