In fact, the assessment was not submitted until last week, over six weeks (!!!) after the updated code was submitted.

All while the EHRC has been publicly pushing for Phillipson to implement the updated Code without proper scrutiny.

The EHRC is clearly not fit for purpose.

Last week Falkner published a letter to Phillipson, writing the body’s new code of practice must be brought into force “as soon as possible” because some organisations are using old guidance, which is unlawful. Phillipson rebuffed the suggestion, saying the watchdog has only submitted missing documents – including an equality impact assessment, which supplements its code of practice – within the last week. The late additions are on top of the original documents sent to ministers in September stretching to over 300 pages.

🚨 Bridget Phillipson has revealed that the EHRC did not initially submit an equality impact assessment on their updated code of practice, which will ban trans people from gendered bathrooms, sports & groups.

This is completely embarrassing from a supposed equalities regulator!

It's worth noting that the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention has called for the EHRC to lose its A-status accreditation as a National Human Rights Institution.

Calls to recognise the illegitimacy of the EHRC, in its current form, should not be considered controversial.

The work of the EHRC has always been quite heavily politicised, but in recent years, it has evidently lost both its independent and democratic character.

It's great to see the Scottish Greens calling this out. We urgently need a truly independent equalities regulator.

Green Party Conference recently passed some amazing healthcare policy for the trans community. It commits us to an informed consent model of trans healthcare, a trans-led public inquiry into NHS care, a trans-inclusive ban on conversion therapy, and so much more.

The GWD is claiming that they have been discriminated against. This is completely ridiculous.

If political parties were forced to allow the attendance at their events of those who hold views that aren't aligned with party policies, that would be fundamentally undemocratic.

I am thrilled to be able to report that after a discussion with JPAC, JPAC has agreed to update it's position statement to make it clear that trans people haemoglobin levels should be tested against their hormonal levels, not their Sex at Birth.

I am extremely concerned by this decision which needs to be overturned immediately.

As members we have clearly expressed our solidarity with the trans and LGBTIQA+ community.

The Green Party must leave no doubt about its position.

As a trans member of the party, I am personally extremely disappointed that this has been allowed to happen. If the GWD are not removed, I will sadly be boycotting Conference this year.

The GWD have just announced that they have secured a stand at the Green Party Conference.

This is completely unacceptable & must be immediately reversed. Allowing a transphobic org to campaign at conference would destroy the trust the Greens have built with the trans community.

It's clear that the government is obliged to place the draft before parliament, once it has been approved by Phillipson. However, given the evident complexities of this update, it really should be published immediately to ensure proper time for public & parliamentary scrutiny.

It appears that the EHRC has now submitted their updated code of practice to Bridget Phillipson for approval.

Given the significant impact that these changes will have on the lives of trans people in this country, it is critical that the government publish the draft immediately.

Oh, but they had to review 50,000 responses in only 27 working days. I guess they HAD to use AI to ignore us! It's not as though their deadline was entirely self-imposed...

Also we all know that the "national LGBT org" providing sympathetic quotes about the EHRC is Sex Matters, why hide it?

So having used AI to discount 50% of the responses to its consultation, the EHRC will implement everything that was in their interim guidance & more.

The entire consultation process was a farce designed to legitimise & implement some of the most brutally anti-trans laws in Europe.

It was amazing to see so many people marching at London Trans Pride today!

After having so many transphobes in my comments (on the other site) this week, it was an incredibly powerful reminder of the strength & resilience of our community & its allies 🏳️‍⚧️

I am extremely proud to have stood on the picket line today with my fellow Nottingham UCU members in firm opposition to compulsory redundancies & job cuts.

The university would be nothing without its staff. Buildings cannot teach students.

As a trans member in attendance of yesterday's hustings, I found Ellie's statement on trans issues disappointing & quite distressing.

Trans rights are not a debate. They are not a contested issue. Treating them as such demonstrates clear alignment with transphobic ideologies.
