I love that xc is being explored as a winter sport. They should do the 2034 race in Moab

Every day I see people commenting on something he has said, or thinks, or whatever. I still have yet to encounter anything by him in the wild. Maybe his haters think he’s more influential than he is?

I grew up with Alex Pretti The kind-hearted ICU nurse shot by ICE agents was my childhood best friend.

I wrote about my childhood friend Alexi Pretti. Please read it and share it and remember him as a human being. @theverge.com

This data is drawn from a new preprint that I helped on with a large group of researchers: arxiv.org/abs/2601.14429

I have tried to look up more on this sport, but their SEO is dreadful. Keeps giving me links to Alpine Slide attractions. Maybe need to look in German?

If you are anxious and sad about the state of the world, that's fine, and there are plenty of strategies for dealing with that. But I think you already know that drive-by online dooming isn't a strategy. It's selfish and adolescent. It's a contagion that only spreads the worst of you, not the best.

Yeah, you might want to rethink this.

if you are talking today about how bad maduro was and were alive, at all, during the run-up to the iraq war you are potentially the dumbest person to ever live

Not announced yet. Pretty clear that’s where this is going, but they just made major changes to it this fall so I think it has a couple of years

I think it’s more mundane than that. If a news org wrote a researched piece on trump’s health, the White House would be mean to them and probably kick them out or threaten a corporate strategy or something.

Biden wasn’t gonna do any of that, so there wasn’t any reason to not report.

I spent the day convincing my FIL and BIL that their lives would be materially better if they got over their hang ups and bought minivans. One was bemoaning that a pickup gets terrible gas mileage to deliver paintings, and the other spent 45 minutes packing his 3 kids and Christmas into a Subaru.

Maybe we should ban A&M while we are at it.

A&M might have scored a touchdown in the FCS playoffs also.

I agree. Tulane earned their place; Miami A&M was the mistaken embarrassment.

And having watched Retzlaff do exactly this all last year, Tulane should expect this.

My student’s response: β€œGod made the June Sucker. It must have worth. And if God cares about the June Sucker, think how much He cares about me.” 5/5

I talked with one student about the June Sucker, an endangered fish that lives only in Utah Lake; it has no sport or food value, but UDOT and others spend lots of money planning around it and mitigating its habitat. I often hear people complain about the futility and expense of these efforts. 4/5

It has been gratifying to see my students recognize the connection between care for the environment and care for the poor, a point made by Pope Francis as well as by Elder Gerald CaussΓ© in a recent talk on campus. 3/5

Most of my students are high-achieving members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: have had many gospel lessons – daily scripture study each year of high school often followed by a 2-year proselyting mission – but few on environmental stewardship and none involving a pope. 2/
