So, anyone still believe midterms will fix this?

Well ain’t that something. The politician “experts” saying more people vaccinated would not have helped.
Complete and utter BS.

Better build many many more hospitals UCP… or is the plan to just keep letting ABs die in the ED WRs?

She doesn’t want to uphold our democracy. The feds need to shut this down. Glad the judges spoke up.

Alberta chief justices defend judicial independence after Danielle Smith’s remarks They spoke out after Premier Danielle Smith said she wished she could ‘direct’ judges

Smith: "I wish I could direct the judges”

"She added that she recently wrote to Mark Carney proposing more provincial involvement in judicial appointments “so that we start choosing judges in Alberta that reflect the values of how we want them to operate here.”"

Ponder that for a moment. 🎁

Public hearings are not fair for all, they benefit the privileged. Rezoning HAS worked… going backwards helps no one.

Public hearings disadvantage the marginalized. The people already struggling. They benefit the privileged, which if anyone paid attention to last time, are very loud.
What a waste of time and resources to go backwards. Oh, and hear about how it’s a “WEF, globalist conspiracy”. 🙄

Pay out of pocket for healthcare services. It’s cruel, un-Canadian, and inhumane.

If provinces are not held accountable for their funding and policy decisions on healthcare, nothing changes, nothing improves. They are the ones who have failed Canadians, and if the Toronto Star’s latest is accurate, the liberals are taking the cowards’ approach by making refugees & asylum seekers

This is one of the things that I find is most shocking to people outside Minnesota who don’t realize it yet—the scale at which everyone who isn’t white has been forced into a spectrum of hiding.

Very good article drawing out the Tahrir Square comparison.

Jim Pattison, BC grocer billionaire, owns a US warehouse that will soon be an ICE facility. Let’s crank up the boycott pressure on Pattison and organize for a real tax on these ghouls. This is a stark reminder of how the billionaire class aids and abets fascist forces.

Our own expense for an industry that doesn’t love us back.
If our governments govern for industry and not US, that’s not democracy. That’s not ethical. That’s not public service.
Journalists and experts in multiple fields who give a damn about humanity, speak up. Pick this apart.

He talks about our “standard of living”. You mean the one where 10k jobs were lost in that industry last year? While it takes in record profits? Where our public services are depleted into devastation? He talks about the “elites”?! Not Everyday Albertans and Canadians who have bent over backwards at

It took me three rounds of reading to get through this opinion piece. I am seething. Our nation and province should not be held hostage by an industry hell bent on destroying the planet, the life on said planet, and one so blind.

She won’t have to publicly. And her actions that support the separatists’ cause predate her premiership by years. When people show you who they are…

Smith is trying to rhetorically appeal to both separatists and federalists. But her actions have been much more supportive of the separatist cause. When there is the referendum she will have to pick a side and "Sovereign Alberta in a United Canada" won't do it.

Drop the names of any Canadian companies you’ve seen working with ICE in the comments.

I’m aware of Gardaworld, Roshel, Hootsuite.

Would love to gather any and all other names.

All of this is fucking senseless. Minnesota did not have an immigration problem. Trump sent his Nazi thugs here because he's racist against Somali people and to own libs like Tim Walz. Now two Minnesotans are dead and Minneapolis is on the verge of going up in flames. None. Of. This. Was. Necessary.

in trying to understand what makes ICE and CBP so dangerous right now, it is tempting to imagine some new lack of training or experience or professionalism—and not grapple with the truth that a white nationalist movement has put more power and force behind their existing mission

I have now watched the video of the execution today and it is absolutely horrifying. One cannot unsee it. You can clearly see in the video that an ICE agent fires multiple shots into the man *after* he is already shot and presumably dead. It was an execution in broad daylight by the Trump regime.

The doddering old fool is just threatening us with a good time.

A 100% tariff on our oil, potash and so many other goods and commodities tanks the American economy pretty well overnight.

“There was no standing back. Only standing side by side, together on the front lines with our allies.

From 2001-2014, Canada joined allies in the fight against terror in Afghanistan. CAF men and women were on the ground from the beginning, not because we had to, but because it was the right thing to do. Canadian troops led allied efforts in the perilous Kandahar Province. Combat operations were regular duty, demanding sacrifice from our soldiers.

158 of our personnel, along with a Canadian diplomat paid the ultimate price.

Lest we forget.”

David McGuinty, Canada's Minister of National Defence, has responded to Donald Trump's claim that America has "never really asked anything" of NATO, that the alliance sent only "some troops" to Afghanistan and that "they stayed a little back, a little off the front lines."

It's pretty blunt.
