Founded in 1978 by the @afsc-org.bsky.social, @quakerspym.bsky.social, & Central Philadelphia Friends Meeting, Friends Child Care Center (FCCC) began within the historic Friends Center. /11a

AFSC is one of 3 Quaker groups that formed the Friends Center equity partnership to steward the property at 1501 Cherry Street in Center City Philadelphia.

History

Our featured Philly nonprofit office organization today is the American Friends Service Committee, @afsc-org.bsky.social! As they say, "Founded by Quakers in 1917, AFSC has been at the forefront of some of the most important social movements in working for a more just, peaceful world." /4a

The ACE Mentor Program of America, founded in 1994, is a no-cost after-school program that prioritizes workforce development for high school students by connecting them with experts from the design and construction industry. /2

Friends Center's nonprofit office tenants include both Quaker and non-Quaker organizations. All have missions that align with Quaker values and testimonies in Philadelphia and beyond.
