Fair. The other day I spent 4 hours arguing with two partners only for nothing to happen.

Trump's out campaigning hard for the liberals again.

Also I really need to marathon Battlestar Galactica for an eighth time. All of this has happened before and will happen again.

Call me old fashioned, but if we make it easier for my kitchen appliances to organize than the Amazon workers that delivered them, we might as well give up and say the robots won.

Kind of feel like we should keep working on the humans rights stuff first. But maybe that's just me.

In the 90s my 'friends' still made gay jokes to my face, so different times.

I really can't remember how we got here, but I think you miss the point, it's more than a description, it's a dog whistle. Doesn't really matter, you went off about how I'm living in some binary view of the world, then proceed to throw labels around. I think this thread unraveled.

10.03.2025 22:01 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No, not in the law, but I think it's an acknowledgement that white English folks who are third+ generation generally have certain privileges.

Why are you throwing around the term brainwashed. It's a pretty standard critique of Harper's communications. That he sometimes would use dog whistles to speak to his base.

10.03.2025 21:53 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Sir this is a Wikipedia article. Yes that's the dominion flag. When Harper used the term old stock Canadians, it was a dog whistle.

What's the source? Also it just seems like an article describing the students experience and what they were learning about how people in China live. I'm really confused. I thought maybe they spent 3 months at an indoctrination camp or something.

That said, shady dealings happen, like the greenbelt scandal in Ontario currently under investigation by the RCMP.

Pretty sure neither is legally allowed to collect bribes, however both collect donations. We put caps on ours, so depending on what level of government and province it makes out at $3,450. Corporations and unions are barred from making political donations at the fed level.

And let's be clear the conservatives are openly Zionist.

We'll look at our foreign policy and I think you have the answer to your question. As I said, the NDP have been the only ones to speak out against Israel, and even there it's been half hearted and inconsistent. So I think, it's safe to say the rest of parliament are pro Ideal, even Zionist.

Oh I forget to mention that old stock also excludes all indigenous people as well as non anglophone or francophone immigrant. Old stock Canadians

Old Stock Canadians - Wikipedia

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Sto.... Old Stock as in WASPS or pure Laine. It's a much more loaded term than just second generation. Any case, you're being oddly obtuse or just plain ignorant and I have reps to do at the gym

I'm not going to really take much stock in opinions from someone who doesn't remember Harper's old stock Canadian comment. It was right up there with barbarian practices hotline. My dad traveled to China on multiple occasions as part of Chretian's trade envoys, did that make him a communist too?

Not at all, I read a variety of papers (sometimes even the National Post). I come from a family with a lot of diversity of opinions. I tend to vote progressive, but live in a Tory riding, and have to live and work with people of all stripes. I truly believe greater diversity of opinions is strength

Side note, The War of the End of the World remains one of my favourite books, and opened my eyes that both Canada and Brazil share a common history of European colonization and exploitation that has put both of precious resources at risk. We need to collaborate more.

Agreed, it's pretty horrible. Our government should impose standards on mining companies based in Canada. It's also up to the Brazilian government to impose protections. FYI, although I have yet to travel there, everything I have learned about Brazil impresses me.

He always said he was going to win, and the polls always said he was favoured. Not once did he ever care what he said publicly.

How was he an asshole? He came out every day and did update. Worked closely with public health. Got us vaccines in good time compared to other regions. Collaborated significantly with other levels of government. Remember lockdowns were all provincial.

We have plenty of home grown potassium mines too. But yes our mining industry is one of the biggest on the planet and often doesn't play by the rules we would expect from a Canadian company.
