43 years ago today (12/5/1982), at 2:40pm, Andy Shaw and Chris Wade of York Archaeological Trust discovered the tell-tale gold-like band of the top of the Coppergate Helmet whilst operating a mechanical digger, thus beginning about 6 hours of rapid recovery and conservation
