hysteria about gas taxes is so odd. this will cost you $60/year if you drive a ton and get terrible mileage.

inflation adjusted, the WA gas tax will have DECREASED by 15% even after the change.

i know they’re doing gods work on housing reform and they have the new City Line, but it feels like they can’t win this without tackling the car problem.

how is it that EVERY road in spokane is 2-3x the size it needs to be? just massive 4 lane, 60’ arterials through every neighborhood with the saddest, crumbling 5’ sidewalks you’ve ever seen.

Starting Sunday your Metro will be operating under automatic mode, the 1st time in 16 yrs! Incredible hard work by the team to make trips safer, more reliable & cost efficient. Expect service adjustments on lines until new schedules are implemented that account for faster trips.

really excited to see Bellingham become an even more vibrant biking & walking city. 🚀

this project was a result of determined neighborhood activists who used chalk and planters to add crosswalks and slow cars after years of speeding and car crashes on the corridor.

small things, big outcomes!

and we heard from city council members who are excited to see more “quick build” projects in Bellingham.

we heard from the owner of Elizabeth Station, an incredible local business, who is thrilled with the improvements and sees them as a win for the whole neighborhood.

we heard from the local transit authority, who is doubling bus service and adding sunday service on the corridor starting 6/15.

seemingly simple things like paint-and-post bike lanes, curb extensions, crossing improvements, and traffic calming features had a huge impact: a 30% increase in bikes and a 57% increase in pedestrians along this neighborhood corridor.

sometimes you need to celebrate the little things. on Saturday, we brought Bellingham neighbors, elected officials, business owners, and advocates together to cut a ribbon to celebrate the impending end of the “pilot” phase of a local multimodal transportation project.

i’m convinced that the only path that doesn’t end in complete destruction of our democracy is for Dems to dramatically escalate in a fashion where retribution by Trump would be politically intolerable.

otherwise we’re all just boiled frogs.
