Portland is a unique case. Historically, its most bustling market was the Carroll Public Market on Yamhill between 1st and 5th. The James Beard market will restore that. That said, I've always been a proponent for commercializing part of the waterfront. A few pavilions certainly wouldn't hurt.

2023 design proposal with raised cycletrack, 12-15' sidewalk, stormwater buffers, fewer curbside parking

2025 design revision with 8-10' sidewalk, no stormwater buffers, no raised bike lane but a bike line between traffic and parked cars, also more curbside parking

Beaverton pulled a bait and switch on the Milikan Way Project by adding more curbside parking (even though there are two giant parking garages two blocks away) and removing the raised bike lanes

Still a long way to go to get MAX ridership to where it should be, but 8% year-on-year growth for Q1 is very positive news.

Never once had a problem on this intersection and I drove Uber.

Wonder where Tokyo stands regarding that considering how popular Japan travel has become post-covid
