yes. this has basically been one of the themes my column for the last few months!

I managed to predict this just from the headline of the “suspect” and marshal being shot. It should just tell you that, but we live in a world where they try to imply innocent people are dangerous criminals when they’re the ones being shot by them.

To be clear: deportations to increase cultural homogeneity is the text book definition of ethnic cleansing. Demands that come even close to this are so far outside any democratic norm and the rule of law. What has happened to a country when this is not condemned in the strongest possible terms?

I think this is very bad and my outrage over it is intense and genuine. I am confused why my outrage seems to matter less than the scripted outrage of a smaller group of people who regularly seek out false stories about people like me in order to feel insulted and offended.

You know, I’m actually pretty upset that the leader of my country has no regard for the laws that are supposed to protect my rights, my free speech, and my tax dollars, that he seems disinclined to ever cede any power, and that he regularly insults and demeans half the country, including me.

They need to stop being allowed to get away with the “I was born yesterday I don’t know what’s going on” bit. Anyone else who says “I don’t know” in response to important questions like this as often as republicans do would have been fired.

Yes, because there should not be such a thing as an “illegal” immigrant. If you are paying taxes, as “illegal” immigrants do, you are should be entitled to receive the services that entails. And if one doesn’t pay taxes, it’s likely due to an issue that access to social services can fix.
