Most went into healthcare or IT. They were better paying jobs than what they previously had but all of those people were still working class.

To say nothing about me, a college adjunct teaching 5(!!) sections a semester while also working another job.

I taught at a community college for years & most of my students needed help getting to college level reading so spent a few semesters working on that. Folks were then able to get 2 year certificates or matriculate into 4 year schools relatively cheaply.

I guess I should have added for me in there. I know competition can bring out the best in many people, it just stresses me out too much.
